The Nicholson Report

THURSDAY
So I get to the track and unload after spending all morning putting the bike back together and getting it ready to run. Typical day...I always take thursdays to just get my feet back under me and get back up to speed, starting off slow then going for some race pace hot laps towards the end of the day. I go out for my first session, hit the back straight, and the bike gets up to 9k on the tach and stops there....bogging. does this all the way around the track, so I pull in...slightly irritated. I look at the bike and the entire engine is covered in oil....wonderful. Turns out when I went down last race weekend the airbox got filled up with oil so I spent like 90 mins cleaning up that mess and getting the bike ready to run again. I got a few sessions in running about 80%

FRIDAY
Wasn't going to run but definitely wanted to sort the bike out and get up to pace so I decided to. I actually had a really good day. I had lost some confidence in T1 since my crash since I wasn't 100% sure what caused it so I did a lot of analyzing what I'm doing in that corner and how it could be improved. Turns out I was weighting the bars more than I probably should have been, so I worked out that and tried going through as fast as I was when I went down two weeks ago....no problems, smooth as shit....we're good to go.

SATURDAY
Threw on some new tires at lunch for the races after practice, went out for MWSS. My launch wasn't great but being in the A slot is pretty frustrating for me....I'm still working on confidence going into T1 off the line in the middle of the pack. So I go caught up in some traffic then 2 laps in we had the red flag. The next launch I had was pretty good, then hit a false neutral going into T1.... let everyone by and then did some crazy catch up getting up to 9th place before the next red flag. Ran a 1:16.00. After that race I tried to relax and get my head in it a little more....I just wasn't feeling it so as I got ready for MWSB I made sure I was a little more focused. Had a decent start from 5th row back...spent most of the race battling with Brent Lyskowa which was a blast. I got him in T11, then he got me right after going into T1...kept putting a wheel on him and eventually got him on the outside of T9 with 2 laps to go. Finished 8th and ran consistent high 15's and low 16's...fastest was a 1:15.7

SUNDAY
Didn't practice due to the conditions, once it finally dried out it was really crowded out there anyway it seemed. I helped out a bunch and watched a lot of racing since my only race was MWGP. I did everything to prep the bike and get ready....all the fast guys are gunna be in it for the most part, I want to improve on last year. Had a good start, closely chasing Corey Hildebrand and Mike Martire....2 laps in a kid ahead of me tries to pass like 3 guys at the same time going into T3....way too tight, hits a Adam Rickard and sends both of them, and Corey down...I slow up to make sure I dont hit anybody and another rider behind me drives right around me on the outside....ok bud w/e. Christian Cronin was right behind me and I held him off then he eventually got me on the inside of T3. After he got by me I just paced myself instead of trying to pass him back. Finished 11th and ran consistent low 1:16's across the board for the most part, with a fastest of 1:15.8. \

Also.... I hit my peg in T3 during that race....not only did I almost shit myself, but apparently everyone that came up to watch my race as well (fam and friends). That was sketchy haha.

I was psyched to be hitting my faster times consistently...that matters more to me than anything else so now I'm a lot more confident in those times. Being a lot more consistent, while working down my times was a huge goal of mine this year.

Had a blast this weekend
