How long did your leathers last (Jackie dont read)

Your latest set of new leathers, I was thinking brand new, but if you bought used I guess we can include them. How long did they last before they hit the track? I mean HIT the track and/or track related run-off space.
I wanna see if the old saying is true.

This past Sunday, a large group of us went to a big parkinglot and spent a few hours dragging knees at slow speeds...


One guy leaned a bit too far, clipped a foot peg, and lowsided at under 15mph.

He was wearing BRAND NEW Frank Thomas leathers. One 15mph get off, in a parkinglot, and the elbow had a half-dollar sized hole, all the way through. And the seams on the hip of the pants completely exploded.

Frank Thomas... FAIL!

about 8 seconds.

Yup, I'm superstitious about that, so I put them on and rolled on the ground to get it out of the way. It worked for almost a year before I went down in them. I also did the same when I put new numberplates on the bike. Scuff one with a rock so I don't "have" to do it on the track. I know, I know

fuck, i clicked 1 lap, it was 1 lap on new bike, but should be 1 day for the leathers

Haha, thats where this came from. Someone showed Carl McAllister (I think) a new set of leathers they got, and he said to tie them to the truck and drag them around a bit and get it out of the way.

I went all of last season without scuffing my newest set. It was kinda remarkable because I raced all the MotoST endurance races and all the LRRS weekends.

They were used when I got them and had been crashed a few times.

But I personally lasted about 1.75 track days before I added to their crash total...

did the whole penguin day then the first race weekend first practice a few laps laied it down in 1a.. guess i had a leak in my rear break... put break fluid on my rear tire.. i did not think i was using my rear break?!?!?
