newbie racing questionim not planning on doing this till 2005, but i like to plan ahead. I took a few Penguin schools this year, and next year I want to take some more. In 2005 I plan on buying an entry level bike to compete in the newbie class. Can I do well on a EX500 or should I go with a SV650S? I know Jeff can do high teens on a EX but Im not him, so I will need a little more to go faster (i think). Thanks for any thoughts, and I hope to see some of you this friday (6th). |

newbie racing questionI haven't ridden either, but I know the sv650 kicks major butt around that track. I'd go with the 650. |

newbie racing questionWhat do you mean you have taken a few Penquin schools? If you take the class once it's good for a year and you can do open practices when they have them. |

newbie racing questionPenguin has more than one level of school. You can always return and learn something. |

newbie racing questionYou are correct they do have a advance course, but why and the hell would you take the Advance course if you haven't even raced yet? I haven't taken the Advance course, but from what I hear they just walk you around the track and then show you some different lines. Unless you are racing a lot and trying to get your times down because you are stuck and can't break a certain time why take the course? |

newbie racing questionThe EX500 is competitive but if you have the chance and the cash go with the SV650. The EX is a little underpowered when compared to the SV and like Dan (legalspeed) had mentioned it's been kicking butt. |
