I figure it's about time to do a little writeup on the pro school. In short: It was fucking awesome! Easily the best $ I can imagine spending in racing. The instructors were awesome, and there was a shitload of 1 on 1 time. Any questions anyone had were answered (and I asked a few). I brought a notebook, and that notebook will likely be my most important possession regarding racing I own for the next year or so. We did a very involved track walk with Eric, split between the 2 days. There was a ton of track time... I burnt up most of a rear tire on an EX 500 in those 2 days. I had no idea that was possible.
I have so much stuff to work on now that when I was on track this weekend I found myself trying to decide what to work on each time out... it's too much to work on all at once.
I dropped .5secs/lap off my PB this weekend, new PB set in traffic that was holding me up in sections, where the old one was set with open track. I think that I'll have plenty to work on for a good year based just on this, and by then I'll likely just do it again.
The 1 on 1 time with the instructors really is priceless. I got a lot of GREAT stuff from them. Eric is an amazing teacher, he can remember what my brake markers were, where I preturned, where I overbraked, etc. even after the session back in the garages.
Special thanks to Scotty G for the sprocket - that helped a lot as well.
Two thumbs up, 2 tires down, worth every penny, etc. I'll be doing it again next year for sure.
I'm going to be studying that notebook every day from now to the next race weekend, without a doubt.

Sounds like it was a great experience. Glad to hear it. I'll pass this along to Eric (assuming SG hasn't already). Amazing what good instruction with an experienced staff will get you, especially if you utilize the assets available to you and making the most of it, which is sounds like you did (notebook, asking questions, etc).
Congrats on the new PB Dan. Pinning it to win it?!

Heh... we both just edited at the same time. I finished my edit and saw yours. I def. tried to make the most of it, took a bunch of notes and really focused on what I was told. I made a lot of progress in quite a few sections, as well as in my overall body position and riding. It's going to take me a year to finish fixing all the stuff I learned I was doing wrong and executing all the stuff I was taught to do right.
I'm still working on pinning it to win it, but it's getting better. My rear tire was gone by the time Saturday came around, and I thought it may be suspension so we worked on that Friday. I should have swapped the tire - highsides are scary even when you land back on the bike.
I think my suspension is pretty close now, but I should still probably have the rear shock rebuilt before next time.
