LRRS Making it Easier to get Started in Racing!

Half Priced Entries & Free Weekend Pass for New Racers

The annual LRRS officials meeting just happened over the weekend, and there is one bit of business that I thought would be good to spread. For new Novice racers who are getting licensed for the first time, LRRS is offering up to three half priced entries plus a free weekend pit pass on your first weekend. Brand new licensed riders also get three weekends of free transponder use.

This is a great deal when you think about it. The new LRRS Novice class is limited to just newer riders. Once a rider surpasses a lap time threshold, they are automatically bumped into the Amateur class. This will make the new Novice class more comfortable for any rider to try out racing, as the fast guys are no longer there. With this program, you essentially get full weekend of riding (2 practices each day plus your three races over the weekend) for only $90! On top of this you get to watch the best racers in New England all weekend long.....

If you have interest in checking out LRRS, come on up to a Basic School and we'll be happy to help you get started. The new Novice class and this promotion program makes it really easy to give racing a try and see if it is for you!

One more thing...once licensed one can do Friday practices as well, right?

Concerning rider practices, I currently run trackdays in the intermediate group. My question is: how aggressive is Friday practices? I mean I understand that these guys are running race pace. I suppose I just don't want to be sitting like a duck on a hot track.

Novice practice wont be too fast especially the first weekend. Not to mention if youre a first timer youll be out there with other guys in the same shoes. I wouldnt be worried.

that definitely makes it easier for them to get started....first weekend costs are a big deterrent with all the shit you gotta buy.

I have a buddy putting together his first race bike. First weekend cost has had him on the fence if he can swing the dough. I think this just cinched it, I expect he'll be there in April.

    Sweeeeeet.

Is this offer valid for the first race weekend, or the first weekend you race? I was thinking about doing a few track days on the new bike before trying my hand at racing.

Re: LRRS Making it Easier to get Started in Racing!

This is for anyone racing for the first time - and it's good for all season long.

LRRS practices vary....I probably average 8 laps or so per session. Novice practice, particularly since they bumped up all the faster guys, should not be too bad. It is "race pace", but that number is not crazy anymore. No more Novices on 600's running 1:18's. I also anticipate reasonable grid sizes - particularly in the smaller displacement classes.

They are really making an effort to make it more attractive and less intimidating to get out there and give this a try.

And the line between track days and racing is blurred even further.

Yes, but at the same time, the TD's that are offered at Loudon, especially by Boston Moto and TTD are the most unique, and comprehensive programs that I have seen for being advertised as regular track days. I've been to 3 tracks with 4 different organizations (one of them being a full blown riders school) since moving out here and if any line is blurred, its between a traditional track day and a school.
Which is really quite good now with what the LRRS is doing. Someone can now be where I was at 3 years ago, get amazing knowledge and skills by attending a few BM TD's through out the year for a great price, decide they want to take the plunge into racing, and with the new Penguin School/Race Weekend structure, and now this, make it so much easier for someone to get their feet wet without dropping a shit load of money. At the end of the weekend they still walk away with a CCS license, some hands on experience, and then having the decision to stick to track days or to keep on racing.
After going through the old process and Penguin School, along with bike troubles, I was so stressed out, and strapped for cash that I didn't even want to think about racing. That, and all I had to show for it after the entire weekend was a temp license!
I think that the LRRS and Penguin School have taken a HUGE step forward this year to help ease Novice racers into the program. Makes me wish I was back East to do it all over again.

I wonder If I could get in on this deal? I got licensed at the end of the season and just did my RR +1, very tempted.

If you have not bought a license yet, then this definitely applies. If you bought a license but have not raced it, this also applies (I had someone with this situation yesterday and Wanda helped them out). If you have raced before...it does not.

...hope to see lots of new faces in a few weeks.

Yes, thanks for your help. If anyone else is in the same situation, I was able to call Wanda & have the 1/2 off coupons applied to my my.nhms.com user name. She also told me that the registrations will be going up shortly (end of this week or next week).

If you are taking the school and/or don't have a race number etc.
At the event you will get a race number and my.nhms.com log on ID etc., enabling sign up and race registration.
