Race report: pre season

Pre-Season report
Racer #486-Dan Martin
April 18, 2004 1st race weekend 2004

Thanks to NewEngland Street Riders Racing* for offering us a team position. Barb and I appreciate the opportunity and plan to attend each and every event.

Thank you to Lockhart Phillips USA for their continuing contribution as our main sponsor.
Please visit: www.lockhartphillipsusa.com ; The Sportbike Connection**.

PLAN “A”, 1ST RACE WEEK;
Get a room and race at Virginia International Raceway starting Thursday, April 8th, ending Sunday April, 11th. Find a wrench and offer to pay for everything.

April 1st, our son is born 5 weeks early.

April 3rd, cancel hotel room (thanks to Ed’s Inc. Honda Yamaha*** of South Boston Virginia and Dtalbott for offering use of their hotel discount). Call wrench to cancel trip and apologize.

PLAN “B” 1ST RACE WEEK (AGAIN);
Opening race weekend at New Hampshire International Raceway, April 23rd-25th.

Mon-Tue
Prep bike- change out antifreeze for distilled H20, change oil and filter,
replace battery. Check baby for dirty diapers, do laundry.

Wed-Thu
Clean rear sprocket and chain, safety wire, start race bike and check fluids.
Organize tools, pack trailer. Give baby a bath (talk mother-in-law into doing this), check for dirty diapers, do laundry.

Fri
Take trailer to NHIS and set up pit in early morning. Register, test, tune, and practice that afternoon.
Go home, check baby for dirty diapers, get laundry ready for Sat morn.

Sat
Wake up. Do laundry.
Practice in the morning and win in the afternoon.
Go home. Yeah, yeah, yeah, check baby
for diaper prizes.

Sun
Practice in the morning, win in the afternoon, tear down the pit and go home.

We'll see how it goes. My wife, work, and 3 week old son have to fit in there
somewhere. It should be interesting, I'll keep you posted.
