The OTHER Side of Riding... Highways... Gauging Interest...

Ok, so 99.9% of rides seem to be directed towards twisties. Well, let's flip to the other side of the coin, and make use of the "oodles" of HP we rarely really get to use.

More often than I care to admit, I love taking rips down various highways, while exercising better judgment, and getting well into the triple digits in certain places at certain times. I admit, I usually cruise at around 90+ unless there's reason not to, and "work" traffic (contrary to popular belief, there's a right way to do this, and, obviously, a wrong way).

Rides like this aren't for those who might have license problems (or soon to have problems (i.e. one ticket away from suspension)), or are generally apprehensive about dealing with law enforcement, for there's always a chance a leo will pop out of nowhere. I've been through THE SYSTEM enough times to know that I've got roughly a 60% chance of beating-the-rap, so I really take it with a grain of salt.

So post up if you'd be interested, or PM me so I can compile a LIST ( ). I know for a fact at least a handful of you do this kinda thing often.

from what I've heard, you should just do a trackday at VIR then. I'm planning on going down this winter.

One ticket from hell that's me. Sounds like a ride I could enjoy though.
I like to mix it up a little, some back roads some high speed roads.

No doubt. Take for example, my ride on Sunday... I pretty much torched down to Connecticut, hit some backroads, then torched on back. Using radar, observation, and common sense of when/where to "punch it", hit 130-150 indicated serval times.

Looks like I might have to take this "underground" and start a "scene"...

I guess that's 3 people on this exquisite "list"...

99.9% towards twisites???? Where do you live? The boonies?
Well, you know you have to hit the highways to get to those great twisties..... So I'd say the ratio is more like 25-35% highway vs 75-65% twisties..... so plenty of time for triple speeds

So to chime in on the interest.... I do triple digits here and there and of course there are certain sections where smokie doesn't patrol.... so topend time I would say there has only been one or two times out (like, just down the street to wash the bike) that I have not pushed 125+..... yep I use that sweet HP more than I should.... but

Count me in Mystery Squid, I'm game

?? There are no turns in Fl. Only straight roads with too many Q-tips driving on them!

Heh, I'd be in, but at STEP 31, and a $10K a year insurance bill (for 2 cars and a bike), I probably should avoid such activities

Time to buy a pickup truck!! Really helps get those points down! I came down from a 29 and I'm now a 9, what a difference in insurance! Lost the license a few times, State Police driving school grad., spent tons of $$ on insurance then bought a truck. I drive just as fast, but the cops don't even look!

LMAO.. Sorry.. but aren't you close to the higest sdip where, excluding suspension issues), you simply pay tickets, no need to fight them?

I myself have a 12 sdip, was at 10 last year but a punk ass statey showed up for one of my court dates (and ironically, one didn't several months prior ), 2 cars and 1 bike for me runs roughly $3K, for perspective...
