Stonnerstock '05?

A'ight. Cheryl & I are tossing around the idea of keeping this going. We know we said last year was the last, but we're not sure we wanna end it yet...

That being said, we're looking for suggestions on making everything easier for everyone. Some issues we face year after year:

-The same people year after year are the only ones that sign up for the 'grub list'. Summa the now regulars are starting to feel like we/they carry this thing. In many ways, we/they do...

-Parking. Just too many people bringing too many vehicles. A handful of people helped IMMENSELY by letting us park their cages and/or trailers elsewhere. Unfortunitely, not enough people were willing to do this...

-Garbage. It's just too much. We're the first to insist on bottles over cans. But TWENTY TWO DRUM LINERS full of bottles & rotten food is a nightmare...

-Cigarette snubs. I smoke like a chimney, so I'm not saying I'm not guilty. But the yard is littered with 'em year after year. Same thing with bottle caps

-The lawn. It's inevetible that it gets trashed. We're trying to work around that...

-Last year we got portable shitters. For the most part, peeps was good about using 'em. But there were a handful that just wouldn't. We even got one just for the ladies...

We don't need an excuse to want to correct any of these situations. If we can't come up with something to handle these issues, we'll just scrap it all together as we had planned. We're looking to everyone that attends/would like to attend for input...

Our initial thought is this:

-Sell tickets. Only those that've pre-purchased a ticket will be admitted, period. We'll sell 'em up 'til it's two weeks prior to Stonnerstock. Tickets may be $10-$20 each. If you're a 'couple', you'll need two tickets. Tickets will cover food, portable shitters, and the band. It will still be BYOB. Ticket sales may be limited...

-Cans only. Yeah, we know. It sucks. But this thing just keeps getting bigger & bigger, and the garbage is getting horendous. As I said, I had TWENTY TWO 55 gallon DRUM LINERS last year all together. Bottles make it that much more difficult on us...

-One vehicle per person/couple. If you tow/haul, wunna the vehicles will be parked at a remote location. It won't be too far away, and it'll be an easy drive to go get 'em all. Most trailers will be parked at a remote location. There's just no need for most trailers while your here. There would be VERY few - if any - exceptions to this if we do it again...

-If - big IF - we're allowed to use our neighbor's yard again for parking, it'll be for bikes ONLY...

-Due to the attitude of the POE-LEECE, we may hafta scrap the burnout board. Last year, they waited at the end of the road 'til we started firing up the bikes for 'the show'. They immediately put an end to it...

-Everyone, and we mean EVERYONE hasta be mellow leaving the area. No more blasting up the hill on your way to whatever event, no more wheelies leaving. It's just gotta end. We say it every year, and every year people ignore us. If we do it this year and that happens, you'll be asked to leave...

-This would still be a communal effort. Any one sitting on their asses NOT helping out will be asked to leave...

So there's some initial thoughts we had. Again, I ax for input. Only serious stuff, folks. Don't stray with this thread...

Thanks-Jay & Cheryl

I've never been to the fabled Stonnerstock, so this may not be feasible, but....

Have you considered having at a State Park/Camprground type location? If there was a charge for admission, it might be possible to rent out the entire facility, thus avoiding the issue of pissing off neighbors.

I rode down last year and probably would this year but if I can convince Chris to go too then maybe he would trailer. Why does this help? I work at a college. I would be able to bring some of those trash bags home to throw in the dumpster here if that helps. I would also be able to bring more food stuffs than last year. And...if he does trailer....if the trailer were able to be left at your house Jay - I would sleep in that and save your lawn from my fat ass
I will do whatever I can to help keep this thing going. Last year was my first and I want it to keep going......

I will be the resident "get your ass off this property" if need be I can try my best to act intimidating

Again I will offer of site parking, I could also offer offsite camping but I don't like the idea unless someone is willing to be a designated driver. and maybe some early trash runs to my dumpster so the day after is only one days worth rather than a weeks worth

I don't think everybody realizes how important it is to use the porta potties. Jay's septic system is designed for the peak demands of 6-8 people 600 gallons per day max, during bikeweek his usage easily exceeds the design load and probably triple that on the day of stonnerstock. 25+ year old septic systems can only handle a small amount of stress before the bubbling crude starts puddling in the lawn

this is bike week, you really think there's a remote possibility something like that is available

Thanks, Will. We're trying to avoid asking people to sign up for 'grub duties'. I like the trash idea though. Just how big is this trailer though? Is it like, TOO big?

Would it kill it to have it the weekend after bike week?

Is going downtown to see the drunken Harley crowds that important?

If it was moved then the state campground idea would work, wouldn't it?

There is always the idea of just having a totally enforced "no cars" policy. If it's just bikes, is the parking still an issue?

Reading through the list of issues you have with the messes and inconsiderations......Why don't you just scrapp the whole thing?

That's what I would do.

in my opinion... i can't even think of leaving someone else's place that shitty. i'm the one that always tries to put my shit where it belongs instead of leaving my trash all over a friend's lawn & overloading their septic system... there's something i find wrong about trashing a friend's place & leaving it up to them to clean up after me, but maybe that's just me, maybe that sounds weird to other people

It wouldn't be the same if it were the weekend after bike week. A lot of us do enjoy hitting the strip for some posing. There's something about being there that's just fun...

It may be much easier on you Jay to just have a weekend deal rather than the whole week.

The portashitters are a must and keeps most of the traffic out of your house. If it were me, i'd put a keyed lock on both bathroom doors and once the partying starts, the doors get locked.

Do we really need a band? I know it's fun but it seems everyone was having just as good a time before and after the band as they were while the band was playing. Not having the band may also help "ease" the need for the poopoo to hang out there for noise issues. Chances are we could exchange the noise from the band for the burnout board
The board every year i've been seems to be what gets the crowd wound up the most... haha

Marks got it straight, Just some loud music and food and drinking. I had as much fun on friday night as I did on saturday. And the whole posing on the strip is good, just as a long morning ride was good

No body trashed the place. Everyone was EXTREMELY helpful when it came time to clean up. The cigarette snubs and bottle caps are just a fact of partying. My point was that 22 drum liners full of food & bottles is just plain disgusting. We're just trying to find a better way IF we do it again...

The week after would make no sense. There's a lot more than just Weirs Beach during Race & Rally Week...

Having it going on during the week is what makes it fun...

Never really thought of scrapping the band. Makes sense though...
