Deals Gap Day 5 Wed

Another perfect riding day! Some of the crew accually went swimming half way into our rides. Bruce will post those pics later.
Only did about 220 miles but we tore up the Gap 5 times! My legs are sore now.

Just to give you an idea: You can compare one run down the Gap to about three full non stop sessions on the track at louden. But it is more technical than louden.

We started the day Riding the Cherohala ther rt 360 and a boring trek 441 for lunch at Hooters and back to Route 120 (Deals Gap) to spend the rest of our time. It was locals night at the overlook on the Gap so we went out to see if we could watch a few of them tear up the Dragon. No such luck we couldn't sit still long enough and just ran the gap a few times..

We'll thats it from me, hopefully we will have two more good days of nice weather for riding before the trips over. Time flys when your havig fun!

Just to give you people an idea of what type of riding this is down here, I will let you all in on a situation that has arose.

I bought some take-off DP208ZR's with about 85% of the treat left before the trip. Got them mounted down here on Saturday night with about 13,600 miles on the odometer.

I have about 14,200 now. The sides of the tires are down to the wear bars. I will have to buy a new set tomorrow.

The roads here are just insaine. I was having so much fun on the gap last night I didn't want to leave. I've been dragging my pucks. The roads here are so much more technical then the track. After half a run you're arms and legs are about to give out. This is race training like no other.

I saw a post on another web site where some one threw down glass bottles filled with motor oil there a few days ago. Did you guys run in to that?

I saw a post like that too. I guess 4 riders went down on the oil. And supposedly there are a lot more cops around. Any info on that?

The rumor of people going down on oil that was spilled being thrown bottles is just a rumor. There was 2 cars that had guys pouring motor oil for about a 1/4 mile then a ton of it entering a sharp right hander, then they stood there filming. We did not hear of anyone going down but there has been a reward posted ($750) for information on them.

Let me tell everyone that has not been down here, this place is amazing, this is my second year and it does not get old. The roads are so nice (frost heaves do not exist and the paving for the most part is perfect).

Cost completely blows away what 5 or 6 track days straight would run you!

I average around $500 for a full week down here! That includes the house rentals, gas to tow bikes down, gas for riding all week, food all week and T-Shirts and Junk to remember the trip by!

Of coarse if you do not own your own truck or trailer it may cost a tad more to arrainge transportation. I have always found a way, and still kept it under the $500 range!
