Riding into Canada - need ideas for a routeI have been wanting to do a 2 day ride in the country, something rural, with some good twisties, and for some reason thought it would be really cool to head into Canada. Can someone suggest a route that I could do in 2 days that would fit the bill? I don't mind doing some highway but want to keep it backroads mostly. Using google maps I saw it is 390 miles to Montreal from my departure point (Providence RI)...so I would imagine a good back road route would be more like 600 miles, presuming that was the destination. I am not really hung up on going to any particular place, the ride IS the destination for me, something fun to ride, get some cool pics, maybe crash at a B&B overnight. My max mileage per day to date is around 400, that is a bit of a workout but manageable. I'd like to do some decent miles each day, but not looking for an exercise in pain management likewise. Alternately, I could leave from my place in N. Woodstock NH instead, that makes the trip a lot closer to Canada...I could slab up from RI the day before, leave the next AM for a 2 day trip, and crash in NH before slabbing back home to RI on day 4. Any ideas are appreciated...! |

Riding into Canada - need ideas for a routeUnfortunately, once you get up north around the border, the roads are very straight and flat, like a prarie, pretty much all the way up to Montreal. If you go about 1 hour north of Montreal you run into some twisties again. ![]() |

Riding into Canada - need ideas for a routeNot true. There is some nice roads up there. It's not gonna be like the Berkshires of course. But if you want the best advices from people WHO KNOWS all the roads across the border, go here: http://www.m4e.com/forum/portal.php?...76ba776579fac3 Tell them where you will be coming from, and what you want. I'm sure some of them will guide you. |
