I better start drinking now then, I have 175 feet to get out to the road, its down hill going out which isn't the problem, its getting the bike back up at the end of the ride thats the issue.

I find going downhill thru the ice is the hardest, uphill is easy

if it becomes a problem, I walk beside my bike pushing, gassing, feathering clutch, or easing on the brake

well I may have to rethink this now that there is snow on the ground on top of the ice layer, I'll see how it looks in the morning, if the road gets treated I "might" go for it.

It'd almost be worth the trip if they could update my 990's map.

Well it was above freezing , the sun was shining and I was able to clear the steap part of the driveway so I decided to head out to Valley Motor sports for their open house.








THe road was still snow covered so I headed off gingerly , kept it a gear higher than needed to avoid spinning up the rear. I have roughly a mile to get out to the paved main road, which was pretty clear, atleast in the 2 lines cleared from the car traffic.




One of the local kids went by me on his xr650 as I was pulling out of the driveway, so atleast I'm not the only crazy one.



I made it to valley motorsports in North hampton, the temp on the clock at the bank said 37 degrees.




I chatted with Ken and tony for a bit, had a bite to eat and bought some ICE screws for the minis




I didn''t stay too long, as I wanted to be sure to get home before the driveway froze again.

I did stop off at the quabbin for a quick pic




My road hadn't melted any , not that I really expected it to



I was going along good until I stopped to take this pic, I had a hard time getting going again, the rear just kept spinning, I had to start off in 2nd and lug the motor to get going again, I made it up the driveway no problem.

The bike was covered in salt and sand so I broke out the hose righe away.



All told I got in 82 miles which is enough when its 37 degrees out and I don't have heated gear.

Now we just need a few weeks of below freezing for the lakes to get solid enough to ice ride....................
