I totally forgot about the hotel.....anyone have extra room?

I'd like to suggest leaving late on Saturday night to get ahead of any traffic that develops anywhere north of DC....

Re: VIR Roll Call

Baxley has some special pricing on 'blemished' chocks

Baxley Trailer Company

I've been using a sport chock for a long time an love it.

As far as the trailer, the floor is plywood so if you don't have a chock we can just screw down a couple of 6-8" 2x4 on either side of the front tire. Along with a 4 point tie down that works fine.

Re: VIR Roll Call

Yeah that Baxley is the best on the market.

Bergs what hotel are you talking about ?

between the RV and the suites there will be plenty of room for you to rest your wittle head

ps I will have extra 2x4's and screws with screwing apparatus on hand for the unfortunate ones

If you are that worried about traffic on sat mid morn then we can always take the 84 to scranton and shoot the 81 to VA. I checked the mapping it's like an hour longer and way more hilly but if traffic is expected to be that bad then maybe the peace of mind will be worth the extra few dollars in going around the city

The one you sleep at when you don't have a bed of some kind.

the RV is like a Motel 6 "we'll leave the light on for ya"

although I won't charge as much as a Motel 6 .... your choice

Re: VIR Roll Call

Suites aren't really gigantic...but there is a lot of floor space...a lot. They have two queen beds in each so its all a matter of how cozy you all want to be. They do charge $15.00 per person/per night for additional past 2. And if you want a cot you can get that for another $15.00. The way we're doin' it is Kim in a bed, me in another and Carlton on an inflatable bed he's bringing.

Also, if I remember right, there are showers on the bottom floor...under the garages...so there is always an opportunity for everyone to get clean without getting in each others way. Its a nice setup!

I meant to reply to this earlier...

I drove a box truck for a couple years and having done a trip similar to this one, I've found the best time to leave is late at night....between 11 pm and 1 am. Only stops for tolls and gas at that hour and no one is on the road to hamper the driving progress. You can pretty much draft the truckers for countless miles and, as an added bonus, if they aren't speeding there's a reason why...

Yeah...but heres the deal. They won't usually let you in to the Paddock until around 4:30...'specially if something else is going on - and it usually is. No point in arriving at noon and having to sit outside! And believe me, there's not a whole lot to do in Danville!

Well...that was the context...maybe it doesnt mean what it used to mean...which was, hammered, cocked, shit-faced, wasted, trashed, blasted, etc etc etc.

Re: VIR Roll Call

if he gets to VIR early on sun afternoon and there's nothiong to do for ...say .... 12 hours and drinks beer for the next several hours and tries to get up and do a trackday it would not be a smart choice. but if he stays with the RV and we get there later in the day there would be plenty of distraction so he wouldn't drink as much and might not have the possibility of being dehydrated for his first TD

Re: VIR Roll Call

Dehydrated?

Nothing a tall glass of water before bed time can't handle......it's not like I'm gonna be assed-out the minute I arrive......make me sound like an alcoholic why don't you......

BTW, I'm not that excited about this trip.........
