Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

Tony,

Paige will be riding her KLX, and is talking about hero sections? I've got the roll chart holder on the TE for now, but I may ask her if I can mount it up on her new KLR. The idea of being seated for any length of time on the Husky gives me the chills.

Vince has added a short-hand key for reading rollcharts to his FAQ. Cake.

Renee and I were just discussing on whether or not she should go...

I'm thinking she'll have to pass.

Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

I gotta see what Paige wants to do, but if we ride out (about 25 mi from us), I'll be taking the 990. If that's the case, nothing but non-hero for me! I gots no trouble taking it easy.

Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

Paige has the new KLR650 too?

If so, you take that and she rides the KLX250.... you can be twinsies with Renee and I... if she goes.

We've changed our mind about 20 times already. She could definitely hang just doing the big bike route, but that sounds a bit boring to me. I'd like to at least do some of the first level trail sections.

But on our last practice ride (Sunday), she fell 3 times ... just in that area where the KTM lost it's chain that day. And so far, the official bike pickup technique is failing her so she is SOL unless someone is nearby.

Oh well, we'll probably decide Sat night... after going for a ride on Saturday.

Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

Since the F800GS got delayed until whenever, the new KLR is her commuter/travel bike (replacing her DRZ). I just installed her Sirius setup on it, so it's not likely to see anything gnarlier than an unimproved road.

I know I'm not going to load the 990 up on the truck, so we ride out or I haul the TE & KLX out. I'll try to get a definite on the "ride out" option.

Have Renee come up the house on Saturday. We can take a casual ride and see how she does...

T, we're riding out!

Be sure to top off that tanker of yours, and I'll bring some tubing. Just in case.

Weather is looking crappy... if it really is only going to be 50 degrees out there, Renee will definitely not be going.

A saturday ride, if it isn't raining... sounds good, Paige.

Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

I went out for a couple of hours on some "real trails" last night with Renee's new KLX250... with a friend on his KLR650.

I don't know if it's because I've been riding the KLR650 lately, but the KLX felt easier to ride than any dirtbike I've owned.

Definitely something to be said for "smaller" dirtbikes when the trails get rocky and rooty.

But man was I sore last night.

Feeling pretty good this morning though.

Hoping the weather holds up for this ride.

Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

sounds like the perfect first ride for the new (to me) adventure bike (silver 05 tiger)
but seeing as i picked it up yesterday i guess i'll have to wait until next year.

chris we'll have to do the south to north dirt ride accross vt.

i wonder how fast i can get a set of happy trail teton panniers.

if your up my neck of the mountains stop in.

Cool. We'll definitely be down for a dawg ride this season. Bad news is, the floating bridge is closed.

Tony, where're you hiding? We're rolling out @ 7.

Re: Dual-Sport, May 18 (organized event)

I'll be riding out with Bill... he lives up the road from me.

His KLR and renee's KLX are both packed in the Honda right now.

I changed my mind about ten times, but decided to take the KLX.

Got an actual address for the parking lot that I can enter in my GPS?
