Twisties in RI and southern/central MA?

Hey Gang.

Have newborn and new job just in time to totally screw myself for riding this season. Time management requirements will not permit me to do any further exploring on my own for a while. While most roads in RI are a spitting image of those in Beirut, I'm wondering if the NESR Collective can advise me on some good routes in and around the area.

I'm already familiar with most of the good roads that surround the Scit. Res. and go as far West as da Bean.

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated - I can tro' dem in da GPS.

Thanks!!

edit - route 62, 68, 56 and 31 seem pretty good.

That's pretty much the roads that I know of. The tristate border around Quadic Pond. Beyond that, most of the good roads that I know of are further north and west.

what gps do you have?
can you deal w/ mapsource?

if so, I can send you some loops.

your best bet though is to head across the border to NE CT.

Will be picking up a zumo 550 in a couple weeks and that software does work with it. That would be MOST appreciated!!!

I read about your trip to Nova Scotia and saw one of many middle finger extensions devoted to Garmin - would you advise against it or are they all the same/have similar problems? TomTom has one for bikes but I need the bluetooth thing in order to give people like my wife, bosses, employees, etc. yet another alternative for nagging me.

no Garmin is the top of the class as far as GPS is concerned (IMO).
We were just goofing around because MapSource seemed to indicate we could make it all the way along the shore... there was an issue of a) a river, b) a national park and c) no bridge.

the lady at the booth just laughed, and we looped back the way we came.

I don't ever use the voice directions. Just look down occasionally. Takes less concentration than looking at a map in a tank bag (about the same amount of time as checking your speed). Seems to work for me.

one of the local guys set up this site too. not sure if it's still happening...

These are nothing serious but some fun:

Oh in the middle one the part near Barlow Mill is dirt. And in the green section just left of 16 in Douglas on the lower leg is a blast!!!

^^ do you have route numbers/streets for the 1st and 3rd map? I'm only working 3 days a week now so I'm gonna have alot of riding time come spring & summer. Thanks for the routes also.

I know of a very tight twisty rd near exit6 off the 95s. I'll take you on a ride there someday. Its very tight with a few hills, and plenty of pavment to get lost on.

LOL. The middle map is the CT loop Punjistick and I used to do all the time!! We used to do laps, then reverse the direction and do more laps.
