Next Sunday, April 6th, Dual-Sport/Adv bike ride

Supposed to be REALLY nice, in the 50's next Sunday.

Lets ride!

Meeting up at the intersection of 119 and Rt.12 in Fitzwilliam NH at the Mobile/DD's. 11:00AM since the roads stay frozen late up here.

Riding rougher local roads. Mostly "paved", just not in good shape, lots of sand, would be smoother if they weren't paved. Pace with NOT be fast, this is more of a "clean the cobwebs out" ride.

I'll be on the KLR. Full streetbikes welcome, shouldn't have a problem. Just stand on the pegs as our roads are in VERY poor shape.

Late lunch/early dinner in Keene or Brattleboro.

I have a general route in mind. Will be doing a lot of winding routes, not going for distance as the crow flies.

If you are interested, post up.

If the weather changes it's mind, so will I. Without sun it gets icy and stays that way up here.

Any chance you want to head a little south for this? No ice, and we can even hit up some fireroads.

I was out yesterday!

Fireroads, around here? I think you were lost.

We spotted a couple of new KLRs out yesterday (red and a green). You?

In keeping with Clay's thread -- maybe!

We did a 2-up loop, stayed pretty local (Wilbraham, Monson)... so I doubt it was us.

Found another batch of trails that have been lost to mega-mansions.

One guy had to have over a million dollars worth of cars in his driveway.

On the KLR650.net there was a couple of guys that went out. One broke his front fender when he bottomed out. It was probably them.

I could be convinced, especially if it looks questionable for Sunday.

I haven't lived out that way in years though, I'd be unable to lead on any decent routes.

I'm happy to lead. I'm sure I'll get us lost a few times, but that's OK.

If anyone has GPS, that would help... but otherwise I just have to remember from last year.

It would be mostly mountain type small back roads (pavement), with a mix of fire roads thrown in.

Sweet setup! I'd love to see it in action.

I can look at a map and say the areas I'm trying to get to... but when I'm actually riding around and pop out of the woods somewhere... I usually have no idea where I am on the map until I find some crossroads.

GPS should help us out a ton!

Some KLRable gems of interest for your consideration:

Hog Hollow Road, off of Rt112 in Buckland, MA

Beach Road, off of Rt8 in Becket, MA

Tunnel Road in Rowe, MA

Yeah, its pretty cool. I usually zoom out and then just head in a general direction. Its good to have.

Ill prob join this with the tard. If you guys are meetikng in w Mass, Ill prob truck the bike out there since id have to stop for fuel too much lol. If anyone else wants to go up together I have room for one more. Anyone have any good suggestions for strapping a spare fuel can to ktm sx? If not Ill see what I can come up with.

Re: Next Sunday, April 6th, Dual-Sport/Adv bike ride

So... should we firm this up?

Again, if you guys want to come to my house, I'm happy to lead and have a decent mix of small paved roads and fire roads and even some easy single track.

It would definitely be KLR type of riding... and not full on dirtbike with street plate.

It's your call "IgLu"... you started this.

This is a link to my house... when we leave, we'd be heading SOUTH and EAST.

Bring a siphon hose for emergency use. The KLR goes about 250 miles without worries.

Sure, that sounds good. We're still icy/frozen up here and without a solid 50 degree day in sight, it may be best to head south.

Re: Next Sunday, April 6th, Dual-Sport/Adv bike ride

OK... how about we say 11AM at my house?

That will give people ample time in the morning so they don't have to ride in the real cold stuff.

Here's the weather report for my house:

http://wwlp.images.worldnow.com/imag...ng/wx/7day.JPG

There's about 2-3 hours of riding available, so we'll probably wrap up by 3PM at the latest.

If you guys/girls could tentatively add your names here, that would be good. We'll firm everything up on Fri/Sat to make sure no major weather changes.

Tony

Cool.

Tomorrow's weather is looking good... I'll try to do a little "pre ride" to help reduce the wrong turns and avoid stuff that is no longer there.
