Route to Newport, RI

I need to be in Newport Saturday morning and don't really want to shoot down Route 24. Can anyone recommend a more entertaining route from the Mansfield area? Thanks.

back roads to 118
118 to Brook St
Brook St to Pleasant
Pleasant to Davis
Davis to 136 through Swansea / Warren / Bristol
across the Mt Hope Bridge, and then W. Main Rd into Newport
