Sounds like this may be the way things go this season. Lots of bad publicity for motorcyclists lately. Cops may be looking to crack down.

I certainly won't keep my mouth shut (what else is new) This is the exact reason that I don't go on too many group rides any more and especially with folks I don't know very well. This is the first real nice weekend of the season and you guys are doing stupid shit already. Whats next ?
Last time there was a "crew" meeting at the bean there was a wheelie gone bad story where the cops were involved.

If you want to do this sort of shit on that "other site" go right ahead, but I don't think that sort of crap is looked on to kindly over here. I might stand alone in my opinion but I won't ever ride with the"crew" from odfu for this very reason.

have a nice day.

All of the NESR rides I've been on have been well-organized and responsibly led. There's a great group of riders over here and they've all got their heads screwed on right, and that's part of why I like it here.

I agree with you about the "other" group rides, with that said I think we should be the bigger man and let them do their thing over there. I don't think anyone wants a return to the deathmetal-inspired drama days

With that said.......This is why I sold my bike and went racing. If they keep it up they all will be organ donors sooner or later. I went over there and started to read about it, but 50 pages about getting tickets is just !!!

The problem with ignorant people is that they don't know they are ignorant.
The problem is that they probably still think they did nothing wrong and getting chased by the cops is normal. People (for the most part) don't call 911 in large groups for no good reason.
You wanna ride the bike as fast as it will go, take it to the track.

I do have to say that I am glad no one was injured this time around , though I am suprised.

not alone.. cop problem in Canada

from SBN

"
Feb 28/29 RIDE. Cops are itching.
Finally! Some decent riding weather!

Not even 10 minutes into the ride on Saturday, we got pulled over because people were "complaining about bikes on the road". Apparently to the general public, it's illegal for motorcycles to be out riding in February.

Then today, we all got pulled over again. Cops just wanted to make sure everyone had their license and insurance. I'm sure a lot cagers get this as well.

None the less, great weekend!

Also, best part of the ride was when there was some guys on snowmobiles riding on the shoulder of the road beside us at one point. Pretty cool. Got lots of thumbs up from sledders.

I agree with Sean.

Hey I thought it was deliberate too!

But I am sure it looked better than it felt : )

Thanks for letting me tag along on the ride back to Metrowest, much appreciated.

Well Im sorry to see the negative replies and judgement passed on us for doing something that everyone here has done at one point or another.

I guess an offseason of sitting at home and not riding will do that to you.

I have no "official" appologies to anyone, and its too bad that some are quick to judge people they don't know.

FYI some of us do ride on the track.

You should keep in mind that people who hate sportbikers and motorcyclists will hate us regardless of what we do.

Having actually ridden with ODFU several times over 2003 (at least 4 times), I can probably make the most accurate statement of all.

Unfortunately, it's always the rides with incidents that make the headlines. Most of the rides I went on were pretty good, and sometimes I chose to hang back a bit for various reasons, but that's something I'll do on almost any ride where you have a relativley large number of people involved. On any group ride, it's your hand on that throttle, and no one elses.

But I will say this, over the course of 2003, I have found that smaller similar-skilled groups are much better than any massive 20+ bike adventure.

Speeding on the highway at maybe 120MPH+ in a large group is a bad idea. Constant wheelies, stunts, excessive speeds, weaving around cars, etc. can put everyone in the group at risk (especially new riders)!

If some riders in a group act too irresponsible, I usually avoid those rides (as do others). I think in large groups, the pace should be kept slower than normal for everyone's safety. I like spirited rides, but only to a certain degree.

I think this has been beaten to death before. But, please keep the speeds and stunts reasonable on public roads!!

I've been pulled over when not doing anything but riding.

No seriously, 1st time, me and Racya went out on St. Patty's Day and got pulled over just to check reg, and ins.(no ticket)intoProv Thayer st again with Racya and boom cops pull out of a corner sitting with no lights waiting for bikes going up to Thayer...Cops said 'we've gotten a lot of complaints from the people on this street about the bikes', then a woman and her son came down to the porch and said 'my son likes your bikes, I can't believe they're pulling bikers over?' ( this time ticket that was unwarranted)

" some of us do ride on the track"

So I guess that means that you have enough experience and know how to ride like an asshole on the street.

Bottom line , I am not going to glorify it or condone it but speed has its place, a crowded group ride on the highway is not the place. You wanna ride like an ass, do it by yourself and hope you don't take an innocent by stander out in the process.

These machines are way over built for the street, it takes a lot of maturity to control the throttle.
You guys might not see it now, but hopefully you will be able to look back on it in a few years and see how irresponsible it was. I hope for your sakes that no one gets killed before that awakening happens.

From an unbiased perspective it seems like there are just as many "cop stories" here as well

I think you have to be a member of NESR for more than a month before you can make a statement like that.

Go for it.......I think you will come up with and empty basket though. I've seen more shit go down with members of the other fourm(you know what I am talking about) in the one minus years belonging to it as compared to NESR.

Sorry Matt. Facts is facts.
