I'm curious, are you including the short stretch of Rt. 2 that goes into NY? I hope you are! Everyone will like it!

How is the Mt. Greylock road? The past few times i've been up there it has been rough as all hell.

If only there was more time I could show all the fun stuff you are missing!

First off, big thanks to MissT for hosting this!

Add me to the 'maybe' section. This sounds like a super fun day. Just keep Pete away from JD and everything should be fine.

Chris...who is Pete and JD? (screen names...lol??) I hope you can make it, it will be fun!

ZX-12R...I so WISH we could add this part to the ride! We will have to see how much time is left after we get down the mountain, and if we think we have enough, I'm all for it. Just need to think that we need to be back for around 5:30pm, as there is some members who cannot make it up for the ride but want to come to the BBQ later. I thought the roads on the Mount were pretty good, I took the entrance on route 7 in Lanesboro, of course I was driving, not riding, but I didn't feel bumps and that kind of shit. No pot holes. Only VERY FEW small spots with a little bit of loose rocks, but they are easy to go around.

Pete = Oreogaborio
JD = Jack Daniels I believe!

For anyone interested I'm going to be doing a very early run of part of the loop before heading down to Springfield and I wouldn't mind company. The pace through the twisty portions will be "Spirited" to say the least! I'll be in Windsor MA for the weekend so send me a PM if you are interested. I can meet people in any number of places and when we are done, we will ride down to Springfield together. This will be an EARLY Saturday morning ride!

Anyway, back to adding Rt. 2 in NY pressure! Notice how close together the contour lines are! That means serious elevation changes! When doing a shorter ride, I go to about where I marked and turn around and run the twisties in the other direction. There is more fun stuff further into NY but that would add too much time to the trip. If you run this stretch and turn around, it would add half an hour tops!

yeah, you know Me & JD.... when we hang out together things tend to happen.... either i have a "fun" morning or i end up w/ a "slightly" bloody face

Damn you, Jamie for saying something about Tequilla, then getting shots of JD

If the pools open, i'll be swiming.... and swim trunks ARE optional, right?

I'm sure its already been determined, but Rt. 2 east of greenfield is nearly all highway-like driving. Once you get past Hubbardston I believe, it splits to a divided highway, 2 lanes east, 2 lanes west. If you go west from Greenfield though, you immediately head uphill into Shelburne Falls where its probably pretty mild riding until you hit the edge of Charlemont heading into Savoy, and getting alot better after you hit Florida.

And I went up Mt. Greylock last year in the fall, and the ride up there would be alot less nerve-racking on a motorcycle, as opposed to wondering if your a) going to get hit head on by an oncoming car, or b) fall off the edge trying to avoid said car. What a narrow road that is leading to the summit.

It's a mountain, not a highway...of course the road is narrower, I rode it a couple years ago when I was a complete newbie!

The good strectch of 116 you are talking about between Ashfield and Deerfield is in rough shape at the moment because it is being resurfaced. I would give it about a month and then it will be killer! Just remember, new asphalt is greasy...

honclfbr....sorry you can't make it, have fun yourself up in my neck of the woods...

ZX-12R...on this list, there is actually a few people showing up only for the BBQ, they could not make it for the ride.

Copied from CycleForums:

For those of you that will drive to the BBQ, but can't make the ride:

More beer and Coke (as in..soda....lol ) is always welcome, if everyone is actually showing up, there will be at least 20 people! I've bought Bud light, Budweiser, and Corona so far. I have some sparkling wine and fruit coolers for the ladies too! I've got chicken legs, hot dogs, kiebalsa/cranberries in the crockpot, I'm gonna make potatoes baked on the BBQ in aluminium paper, a pasta salad, and a rice salad. Some brownies and popcorn too. I've got the paper plates and plastic cups covered. So if you want to bring anything like fruits or veggie platter, chips, or your "secret dessert", that is good!

P.S. if you bring beer, try to bring cans...to avoid possible breaking. If you choose a brand that doesn't come in cans, that's ok.

Attendance

Hey,
I realistically don't think I'm gonna make the ride portion of this event.
Having to be in Western Mass at 8:00 a.m is gonna be rough.
I think coming over for the BBQ later on like 4:00 is much more achievable.
I can also bring more food and beverages if I drive than if I ride
