9/24 - Lead Dogs for Group Ride Needed

I am looking for volenteers for group leaders and sweeps. Both will be sent maps and detailed directions to lunch.

It's looking like we will have 5-7 groups of bikes with 7-10 bikes a group.

I will lead one of the first groups. = Moderately quick

If people want a "Fast" Group then I will need a "Fast leader" and Fast sweeper.

FazerChick is leading the Newby/slower Group from What I gathered, right? This group needs a sweeper.

Now I need a few average paced leaders and sweepers.

Please respond asap so i can get out the maps and directions so you can review and print these out.

I will be printing a bunch of copies and bringing them with me on Saturday, but most likely I will not have enough for everybody going on the ride.. Check the details page for the written directions and bring them with you as well as a N.E. Map so you are preppaired.....

Thanks!

Looking forward to this great event!
Mike

i will be riding in the newbie/slower group along with Keira so i would be able to sweep, in fact i would prefer to sweep so that i can drop back and take the turns faster and then catch up to them in the straights. i will also have my gps with me in case we get lost i can find our way to lunch.

I will lead a group. I guess it would be one of the faster groups. I will have a set of guidelines that I adhere to when riding. I can discuss at the meeting point so people know what to expect from me. I ride fast but I do not want to scare the cagers.

I am very familiar with all of the MA roads and pretty familiar with the VT roads. I can fill in where ever I'm needed.

One other thing. I will be doing a prerun with Fazerchic tommorrow. I might make a few suggestions to help split route up a bit. With over 50 bikes taking the same route, I am a little nervous that the faster groups are going to alert the cops and then ruin it for other groups that are following. I wont make huge changes but they might be roads that parallel the main route.

Just an outside point-of-view...

A group ride is just THAT...a GROUP RIDE . You keep 2 to 4 leaders at the front , at stop signs and intersections the first pair of riders after the leaders block traffic for the group then fall in the back of the pack . So forth and so on .

This is starting to sound like a group-of-groups ride...

Group leaders and sweepers...? ( Clusterfuck ? )

Potential here for the lead group to be as much as an hour ahead of the last group...

Just an opinion...

Although I am new to the group, If you want I can help sweep. I am in the newbie group only because I have never ridden in a group this large and also never ridden with NESR. But I will have my bike mounted GPS as well, so I can always find the lunch spot if we get lost. Let me know where I can help

You're right, this is a different type of ride. The idea of a massive group holding up traffic to cross intersections is what happens in parades and "runs". This is as you say, a group of groups. It's safer, more easily managed and better suited to sport riding.

BTW, I may meet the group(s) on route, probably at RT 8A.

I will be sweeping for one of the med paced faster groups........

I'll sweep help sweep the slow group or sweep the next group up from that. I'll get a contact # from someone in the next group up, and if its ok, if I'm finding riding at the back of the pack in the last group is killing my fun, I'll get ahold of someone up ahead and catch up with them and play sweep with someone up there. If need be I'll just sweep group 5.

I know the route well enough from Westfield well up into VT, so I dont mind hanging back if I need to stop for anyone or whatnot, as I'll know the route ahead. Whatever is deemed appropriate/necessary.

Sean is a great leader. Get in his group if you can. Best ride I had this season was one that he lead with me and Mark right behind (If your lucky, you might even get the free air show like we did!).

Looks like I will be leading. With TheotherSean taking up the rear. He will be leading part of the run also.

We will be hauling ass through corners but I will be keeping it somewhat down through the straights. 10-15 bikes going two to three times the speed limit is not a good mix.

How many sign up threads do we really need for this run. If you want me to post one HalfSquid, let me know, but this run is getting more complex than it needs to be. We can group up at friendly's on saturday without a ton of threads.
