Lookin for some nice roads to ride in in MA

Hey Guys,

This is going to be my second riding season coming up, and I'm looking to find some nice roads to ride on. This past season I took it real slow and easy since I was new to the whole sport.

Now that I am a lot more comfortbale/capable with my riding I want to know if there are some nice roads that you guys recommend (I'm mainly looking for roads in MA, and RI).

Only thing I've discoverd so far was RT 16 in MA. this past Nov I jumped on that route around the Sherborn, MA area and rode down to Dudley, MA.

Seems like a popular route because I must of passed about 30 motorcyclists while I was on that stretch (This was back in the beginning of Nov 05 when it was warm out).

I live in Dudley- rt 16 is nice but covered with the Douglas Police so you need to be careful. Not too far from rt 16 are some nice roads through CT, Woodstock, Union area.

Come on a ride NESR. You'll learn what roads are good with the quickness.

Yea I noticed a lot of cops during the ride. I was on a straight away on that route and I decided to crank on the throttle. Well some weird reason told me to slow down, and sure enough there was a cop hiding behind some bushes when i got to the end of the straight away.

I missed the "with". But "with the quickness" can be used in place of less stylish phrases in most sentences (or bad attempts at sentences).

Ex:

"The toilet seat was cold as dick so he dropped some heat with the quickness."

I live on some sick roads now. My road is full of twists and turns and hills. Definitly bumpy though. I was considering hosting a "Dual-Sport/I hate my bike ride" for people with dual sport bikes or people who want to trash the suspension of their street bike. I know of LOTS of legal dirt roads, large trails and very rough roads with twists and turns around the Westminster/Ashburnham/Winchendon/Hubbardston area and could lead a day full of riding through all of it. There is also quite a few sandpits and mud holes for those with nible/fast/powerful/light/stylish KLR650's and other technically inferior off-road bikes without the luxury and bling factor of a milk crate.

I'll map out some perspective routes and trails through Google Earth and post them up once this week from hell is over.

Badboy...

(1) You live in Dedham. There are few *insane* roads very close to you. Think "Dover"...but that is all I will say.

(2) Come out with us on a NESR ride. Some of the people on here know some amazing roads, but it's not information that usually gets posted publically. Doing so can cause unwanted attention (police, squids, etc) and wreck them for everyone.

My bike is garaged in Needham, so when it gets nicer I'll ride some with you. If I go on shorter local rides I like to go through Dover, Westwood, there's some nice roads.

And go on some group rides.

Funny you mention that. Dover and Westwood is where I do most of my riding. I know a bunch of really decent twisties in that area. Very country like and no traffic at all.

PM me, I want to see if we know the same roads!!! Heck we probably have riden past each other!!!

Do you know where McGolf is in Dedham? I live in that area. Most of my riding is done in Westwood and Dover. We'll have to get Sedition to come with us too!!

That's funny...guess I'm a lucky biatch because I can't remember seeing cops while riding the Berkshires... if one would see me, I would have gotten a nice ticket... (not as "nice" as some other riders I've been with tho..... )

Nope, never had a problem with The Enforcers around there. Try cooling it before you hit the town proper and you may have better luck.

No, I don't know Dedham really, except for Rt 1.

I'll be riding in that area on days I'm not going on group rides, so that's no problem. Hopefully some warm weather comes soon, I'm going f'n nuts waiting to take my bike out!
