Ride-Saturday, September 7th...

This is very preliminary as of this point, but here's my plan...

First off, lemme say that if ya know where to go and when to be travelling, riding is just fine on a Saturday. With that said, may I now continue?

I'm leaving my house NO LATER than 9:00. Not sure if I'm going two-up or not, but that doesn't matter. I'm going north, maybe into Maine. But it'll be north of the Conway area. I'm not sure EXACTLY where I'm going, and I'm going on roads that are fairly foreign to me. I'm not sure which way I'll be taking back 'cuz as of now, I'm not setting a time frame. And I'm not open to suggestions. I'm going where ever I end up...

But I am willing to lead. Or at least, get everyone lost...

Anyone?

You know it.

I'd like to do Hurricane Mt road and 113 to Gilead.

One of the racers here has a camp on Lake Umbagog, I'll ask about PAVED roads.

rt 153 to 302 to 113 to 2E to 26N to 16S is recommended.

Hurricane Mt road was mentioned in a conversation by a member of the Camp Meade group over the weekend who had ridden that road not long ago. From what i gathered, the surface condition is not sportbike friendly
After logging 992 miles this past weekend on a R1, may go into hibernation for the rest of the season

Thanks for the heads-up R7, I'll be doing that run reguardless.

Heaves I can deal with, dirt tracking is out on the 1K, maybe on a Tiger (which has absolutely stolen my heart).

rt 153 to 302 to 113 to 2E to 26N to 16S is recommended

I think I can offer a couple diversions from that route to completely avoid Conway or Fryburg, heading east from Eaton on the Brownfield Rd then north on Haleyville Rd to 302 (comes out right at the ME Welcome Center on 302)

Although Hurricane Mtn Rd is not sportbike friendly, it is a worthwhile cross road to avoid Conway traffic when coming south to get you over to 113 and reverse the above route to hit 153 south

Hurricane Mtn Rd is very SV (not SVS) friendly

Also, if good time is made, it would be a nice ride to go further east on Rt 2 to Mexico then north on 17 to Rangeley, I thing 17 is nicer than 26, spectacular views of Rangeley Lakes , and Rt 16 between Rangeley & Errol os a nice road

Oh yea, forgot, I found a route in ME that parallels about 15 miles or so ot the southern half of 153

yep, and the diversions are quite nice, they not only avoid the congestion, generally the roads surface is better to, excepting Hurricane Mtn Road.

Warning, Rt 113 thru the National forest, is 2 narrow lanes the whole roadwith is about the same as one lane on an interstate, there is no shoulder or runoff,

I'm still undecided on which way I'm going with this. I've officially dubbed it the "Go Anywhere" ride...

that has a lot of merit, some of the most fun ride I have been on were ones that I had no specific plan except a general direction, exploring different turns, that's how you fine new sweet twisties, on the otherhand, sometimes they turn to gravel.

I should be game for that ride. Snowborder your gonna have to show me the way again to Stoneman's. Probably should change the oil in my bike one last time before I put it up for the winter but we should have plenty of riding left this year to get the use out of it. I'll check back to get plans to meet for this ride.

Sounds good, tilt'n'diner, I don't think Tami is up for riding yet and she is going in for an operation on the 9th and won't be able to ride for a few weeks after that. I'll see if any of my crew is game to go to, I'm sure Adam will be there.

I don't know that I'll be able to do this now. There's still an outside shot - very outside - but I doubt it...

If Stoneman is out is anybody still riding?? If so lets just meet at Tilt'n'diner at like 9:00. I will do some leading along with Rabid1,Snowborder, (if your up to it or anybody else) if they are still going. Not trying to sound pushy just trying to get a back up plan, I want to ride Sat that's all.
