Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza

Checking these places out in person is an excellent idea! It will be very telling about the parking lot space and how busy they are on "bike night." Why don't you lead the ride?

1. Ground Round S. Burlington
2. Al's French Fry's, S. Burlington
3. Chicken Charlies/ Leonardo's/ Moe's/ Starbucks S. Burlington
4. Vermont Soup company S. Burlington
5. New York Pizza, Essex
8. Juniors Pizza in Colchester/Winooski
9. Marco's S. Burlington

I would move we strike Vermont Soup Company...BORING!!!! sorry, just not my thing.

I checked out Chicken Charlie's for lunch (I know, made the sacrifice)... Really great lot, not too bad in or out (light right there) easily visible from the road, plenty of room inside, they have the garage door front that can be opened (sweet) and good food.

I was all for marco's but I took a look, still not bad, but just imagine "the Hair Saloon", "Nails Unlimited" and a barber shop in the background of all the bike pics.... right...or it could just be me who things that would be funny

Ground round is okay, but the whole lot/area looks a wee bit broken up and such and not really much for in/out accessibility or view from inside.

I too went to Chicken Charlies for lunch and looked around. Those garage doors are cool!! Wide open to the outside! I spoke with the owner who is willing to do free Fountian soda to riders and even a cheaper menu. I then spoke with a Manager at Leonardo's who was also receptive. The other shops all close around 5pm so there wouldn't be any issues with parking, PLENTY of HI VIS space. There is even a Lot out back if we want to have "Events" out of the public eye.

We just need to remember to be respectful of the other customers wherever we end up. Of course respectful of the establishment as well (No getting Starbucks and sitting down in Chicken Charlies, that kinda thing.)

Plenty of different outdoor seating too!

I was thinking Marco's and New York Pizza would be too small after going to Chicken Charlies.

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza

Let's be clear.

We WILL be changing venues.

I am sorry but it has become clear that as we get bigger Donny's does not have the space and the city does not seem to have the inclination. It is just a matter of when do we HAVE to move.

I like Donny's and they have been GREAT to us. Space was a main concern of mine when I started this idea, and I made my co founder Motofreak aware of it. I just thought we wouldn't have to move until next year. This thing is just starting to blow up and I would hate for the space issue to interfere with that.

I will continue to frequent Donny's for a smaller, more intimate, invitation only type "Bike Night" (Possibly on Thursday nights)

The question is when do we move? Do we move when we get 25 bikes on a regular basis... 50? How many bikes parked out front makes it non inviting to more bikes to show up? Example: If I roll up on a place that seems packed with no place to park I might not stop in.

Even IF the event permit goes through we will STILL have issues with parking and traffic and pedestrians and ladies stopping in to measure to make sure bikes are the required amount of space off the street on the sidewalk!

Another venue will hopefully serve to eliminate some of these problems as we learn from our growing pains. I thank you ALL for your support in this trying time and hope you can all make it to the new location with minimal fuss. (When we figure out where it will be).

I just want to thank you all for allowing me to join your crew. I look forward to the many more meets and rides we have to come! I am sorry I couldn’t make the Thursday night ride! I had my rear tire off! I need to get another rear tire before I can ride again! Can somebody tell me where the pics and the videos from Tuesday night ride are? I want to see me almost drop my bike and that video when we went around the roundabout! Also, when is the next time were going to meet up for a ride? Thanks guys!
