Ride Report

OK, I didn't ride my bike this weekend, but thought I'd report on my trip to Vermont anyway cause I took my motorcycle route

I left home at 4:30am saturday morning in my 320i, no traffic, Route 11 to Alton then 140 to Tilton, frost heaves are beginning to subside, my 320i handles much better with new Boge shocks.
Still a whole shitload of frost heaves on Rt 11 between Franklin & Andover. I-89 to South Royalton, VT I had 6200rpms on my tach in 5th at one point don't ask how fast, my speedo hits the 85mph peg at 4000 rpms

Rt 107 to Blackmer Blvd.... a few frost heaves, but not bad, no sand in corners, Blackmer Blvd to Rt 100... not bad for a town road, still a few frost heaves, no sand

Rt 100 to Irasville, frost heaves subsiding, but a lot of new longitudinal pavement cracking, surface condition was clean, and pavement condition fair to good thru Granville Gulf.

Rt 17, awesome to the top of Appalachia Gap... those new Boges make the 320i fun to drive. A lot of sand going downhill on the Starksboro side of the mountain, didn't go all the way to RT 116, I took a right onto Gore Rd, some sections of Gore road had new longitudinal cracks in the pavement, a few heaves, but not as bad as portrayed by the Burlington Free Press as the 2nd worse heaved road in VT. Hinesburg Hollow Road... fair to good, as was Rt 116.

the only place I encountered sand was on the downhill side of 17, total time, 2hr 30min±

woulda been more fun on the SV, but I made the right choice in vehicles as there was an inch or so of fresh snow when I left to come back this morning and accumulating fast

85/4000 = x/6200
4000x =(85)(6200)
4000x = 527000
x = 527000/4000
x = 131.75

not bad...

Ride Report

Ok, an update

this weekend I rode my SV to Vermont, took the same route as 2 weeks ago, with the snow last weekend, they added more sand to Route 17 a lot more, I was sliding thru every corner.

on the way back today, I rode south on VT 116, very good condition, then VT 125 over Middlebury Gap, frost heaves are terrible, especially in the Ripton area, one of the tight corners also had some slush then comeing down the mountain on the Hancock side about a ¼ mile below Texas Falls Rec Area I saw a FROST HEAVE sign that had hand written above the words BIG FUCKING.... yes, this is the in the mother of all frost heaves, like riding over a 2 hump camel, with a valley between big enuf to swallow a Goldwing...... word of warning, grab some brake and slow down if you take this route.

Then south on RT 100, on the 100/4 part near Killington, a rather large moose was wondering around along the opposite side of the road from me, then it stepped out in front of a motorhome, that swerved and scared the mooseinto running towards my side of the road, the exceptionally loud downshift of my SV scared the moos back to the other side of the road, then it ran along side me a few feet till it decided it couldn't keep up with me once I got back up to 50 mph, damn, moose can move fast when they want to.

In Cavendish, I took RT 131, Sweet, no frost heaves, no sand, to Clarmont, then Rt 11 & 140 back home.

I did get a chance to ride a little Saturday afternoon on some local roads in the Monkton/Ferrisburg/Bristol/Lincoln/Starksboro area, got some peg scraping in, but their MY secret roads and I ain't tellin which ones.

650 miles for the weekend

oooh ya, almost fergot, on the way up on my stint on 89, I had just overtaken a Suburban that kept on going faster and faster, my Sigma tells me I hit 97, as soon as I get in front of him, my V1 goes off, I slow down to 65 right in front of him, he pulls out and passes giving me the finger as he goes by, we get around the corner, the LEO in the median pulls out with his blues on and stops him

I didn't have my camera with me, but there were a coupler cages stopped taking pictures, it was only about 500feet east of the intersection of Route 100 & Route 4 in Killington,
