Tony's Track Days

I've seen lots of positive comments about our Track Days, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all that have attended.

While attendance was down this year for us, it was not as bad as some others, so I guess that's a good thing.

Hopefully the economy will recover over the winter and we'll be back to having a waiting list for next year's dates.

And don't delay on signing up for the September date... since it's the last one of the year it may actually fill up!

Thanks again and hope to see lots of you on the 23rd.

Tony

Tony - is this the trackday Ken was gonna do for the Triumph snobs?

I'm guessing it's now 'open'? Can we get some more details from ya?

Stoneman, are you going make a showing. It would be great chasing you around, as long as you slow it down for me. Already sent my dollars in. I'll be down in PA for Pocono trackday this weekend, getting in a little more practice.

Not sure yet, Kevin. I know Tony & crew run a great track day. But in all honesty, I think MY money's better spent on Thrusday's open test sessions. I can do a coupla more for the cost of a track day. Which shouldn't be taken as a knock on the track days. I highly recommend 'em for ANYONE that's interested in getting a taste of the track. And Tony runs wunna the best I've ever participated in...

It's not entirely outta the question yet though...

BTW-I'd be wunna the 'admittedly slow racers' he speaks of on his site...

I'll have 4 of Tony's and 3 Nesba events by the end of this month, and may do a couple of Nesba events in Oct. I like riding other tracks but Tony's are the best.

Zero, are you going? We still haven't ridden together this season, gotta get out before its over.

Stoneman, the open practice is more wallet friendly. I'll probably be doing Penguin next season, I wanna be cool like Ed. He ran some great times for just starting out. Last trackday I was running 1:33 / 1:34s, when I threw my laptimer on in the afternoon. Wasn't riding that well, oil spills and a lot of guys crashing kept me from pushing to hard. Starting dragging my knee, gotta work on the right one though.

I agree... Tony runs a good event.
Even though they run the backside of the track backwards.
Grahm was great on showing the lines, and Deb was helpful with some pointers. Got the bug again....
I'm done for this year, but I will be definately doing it next year.

I'm there, my $$ was delivered this past weekend!
I'll be hauling the new trailer & both bikes, might have room for one more, definately room there for a motard!

I may be heading up Monday night and crash at the Red Roof! Anyone want to split a room with 2 Doubles beds?? I would rather be well rested than to hike up early on tuesday!

Hey Kev... by any chance would you have a link to info about Pocono Track Days? or the track etc...

I'm thinking next year I'd like to check out some other tracks if possible...

Thanks!

Regarding the Track Day vs. Open Practice thing:

Basically, you are supposed to have completed the Penguin School prior to attending a Thursday practice.

The Thursday practices have NO RULES. If you are comfortable with this, then these are great.

I target my Track Days to the average street rider. This person generally does NOT want people passing them on the inside, real close, at a MUCH higher speed.... which is what can happen at a Thursday practice.

As for Jay, I can't say that he's one of the SLOW racers, but I respect his judgment enough that I'm willing to let him in... hopefully he'll prove me right!

Tony, I wanna make sure you understand that wasn't a knock on track days. Quite the opposite in fact. I agree that track days are just the thing for street riders to get more comfortable and better acquainted with their machines. There's no doubt about that...

But for someone like me that's missed way to much racing this year, the open track of a Thursday practice session is unbeatable...

That being said, I'm gonna try my damnedest to make this track day. Not that I'm even close to an expert - or even fast - but I do know my way around the track. And I'd be happy to lend a hand to anybody that feels they need to work on their lines a bit, so long as you don't pass me and make an ass of me...

Oh! And you NEED to set up a Paypal account for this. I have a feeling you'd NEVER end up with shortages if you did. It's easy as pie too...

I know you were not knocking track days... and I completely agree that your money is better spent at Thursday sessions since you are a racer.

(I was just trying to explain to some of the others reading this thread about Thursdays vs. Track Days.)

As for helping people with their lines, I only ask that you see me first and wear one of the orange shirts... otherwise people coming up on you guys might not realize you're riding as a "pair".

And as for PAYPAL, the groundwork is laid and beginning next year this will be an option.

Okay, cool...

Speaking of Thursday's sessions: I have NEVER had to show any proof of completion of the Penguin school, nor have I EVER had to show my comp. license. And I have yet to hafta tech before the session...

Granted, I do pull up with a racebike in tow. But I've seen people on streetable bikes breeze right through too. Any idea what gives with that?

You are correct that you are never asked for proof... however it is part of the Thursday rules and if you had an incident there might be a problem.

Basically, the rules state that you must follow the rules of the organization that you are riding under. In other words, LRRS or WERA or whatever.

Again, it is generally not checked so you can probably get by without the penguin school... but there is a safety issue at hand.

Personally, if I'm doing Thursday practice, I would prefer to NOT have people out there that have no formal training or experience.

Mike, I have been doing trackdays with NESBA. Its $75 to join and you have to ride beginner till they upgrade you, but the fastest group has no rules to limit passing. If you decide to do some next season let me know, we usually have 4 or 5 guys leaving from my area. You can checkout there site at www.nesba.com

TLR man,

There's a bunch of trackday groups, Promotion,Reduc, NESBA, and Sportbike Track Time. A few buddies already had memberships with NESBA, so I figured I'd give it a try. They run them weekends so it makes easier to attract riders. Events are cheaper, but travel expenses add up.
