This is a plea from a struggling 23 year old female. I would love to have my student loans payed for. My mom, bless her, has put me through my education as best as she could. I have had no help from my dead beat dad! Right now, though, student loans are draggin me down. I am currently working in the working world but being dragged down into debt very fast.

If anyone out there has extra money, and would like to help me out. I would be forever greatful. I woud do almost anything to have this happen, within moral and ethical reason. I am serious about this and thought I would put out the thought.

Firstly, a few things about student loans that may or may not help you in your situation.

How many individual student loans do you have? Have you consolidated your loans into one loan? Who are the loan providers (Fed Dept Education, Sallie Mae, etc)

Consolidation will save you on fees and save you hassles in the future because there is one contact point for all of your loans, if you haven't consolidated the loans. Also, the issuers of student loans are VERY understanding about having trouble making the payments. Talk to them, often they will grant hardship deferrals, or restructure your payments (smaller payments now, bigger payments later). These people work with students all the time and are 2000000x more understanding than say mortgage or car loan lender.

If you can't work anything out with them, it may be bad for your credit rating, but if you just don't pay them, it takes a long time (5 months - 6 months) before they start to really move on defaulting your loans. This is many more months than other lenders will allow, and it can give you some wiggle room if you are in a really tight spot. Like I said, this is not a recommended strategy, but it helps to know that you can let em slide for longer than say your car payments if you absolutely have to.

But really, consolidate, and talk to the lenders. I would be willing to bet if you called them today they would grant you a 2 month hardship deferral right off the bat if you aren't already deffered.

Someone on another thread also mentioned a tactic I have used too, take another couple of classes somewhere that will help you professionally and you can defer your loans while you are taking classes... A good option, especially if you can find some really cheap classes to take.

In any case, there's a ton of ways to work around the system, and make it work for you, some more healthy to your credit rating than others, but remember others have gone before you and worked it out, you can too!

Props for just simply asking! Nice somewhat "outside-the-box" "expolring-all-options" strategy!

See, this is where our educational system fails us. You shouldn't have to pay a dime until your income exceeds a certain threshold.

I say we issue a "Beth-Bond", long term investment, 20-year term, 1% of annual income dividend payable quarterly upon gainful entry level employment salary of at least 30K annually.... Minimum issue: $500, who's in?

In reality, if you have low income, they will work out a sliding payment scale... low payments for the first few years, and increasingly higher payments until you get to a stable income level... but you have to talk to the loan providers, you have to get on their backs to work something out with you.

Student Loans != Other Loans

Student loan providers have much more flexibility because they really have no collateral to reposess.

OR, set up a bank account in Lithuania, "funded" by a shell company in Equador, pay off the loans through the bank in Lithuania... Timing is the key...

WOW...I wish I could ask people so easily to pay my student loan....lol Specially when I went to school, busted my ass off and getting a diploma in the medical world and it's not even bringing me a job. "Not enough experience" they say, and my education apparently doesn't count enough for them. So I went to school, got in debts...for what? Ending up asking for my license to open my own daycare...if I only knew.

Or, if you're young enough, say "fuck it", default on all loans, and wait seven years...

but that would be unethical, and immoral, of course, something a friend of mine told me....
