I've seen this email before...what do you think the scam is? A bad check and a stollen bike? Is that the scam or is there more to it?

Scam

Many times the bike doesn't even exist at all. They post pics from other LEGIT ads and pretend its the bike they're selling...

um, yeah... that does happen...

...but in this case, sounds like the scammer is responding to a legit bike-for-sale ad...

scam

ha ha, that scam is old, tell him youll deliver the bike to his shipping company and pick up cash when you get there.lol, essentially what happens is they give you the money order you go to the bank and cash it and the bank says its good at first then some scummer comes to pick up your bike(shipping co.) that the guy uses with a fake name.Ends up in a chop shop somewhere then after youve spent some of the cash your bank tells ya it was bad and now you owe them and all that mess.pretty crappy deal.i always write them back and tell em to piss off, after all this guy or guys are trying to steal your bike right from you. COWARDS THEY ARE.................................................

Yip, seen many versions of that one. I like fuggin' with 'em though. Have fun with it, just don't give out any important info (you knew that). Keep us posted...

Because it's just a form letter. They just go through it and fill in the blanks. They're too stupid to realize they hafta remove 'em...

digits

Another important thing that I make sure to do, whenever exchanging phone #'s with someone that you are buying/selling from use a cell phone since if you use a home phone and have soemthing for sale such as a bike, they can do a search and look up your home # online and find out your address and take your bike...

Now that I have had a bike stolen I am paranoid about my info, I don't give out my home address to bike shops anymore, no reason for them and their 100 friends to have it...call me paranoid with a bike or call me paranoid without a bike :-)
