These are 2004 season tires - NEW. They are great trackday tires or street tires.

Dont mean to hijack your thread but , I'm sure this has been covered and I'm guessing you're the resident tire guy so...where's a good ( inexpensive ) place in the Worcester area to have my bike tires changed...? Thanks .

Most dealers will do it, but they often charge double the normal rate if you don't buy the tires from them.

Cheap? This is in the eye of the beholder.

Some people think $20.00 is too much off the bike. I think it's right in line. Expect to pay in the $40.00 per rim range.

The idea is to find a shop that is good at it i.e doesn't destroy the rims swapping rubber and can balance.

Unless you mount your own, their are many advantages to having the retailer mount your tires.

I had my front changed at Performance Cycles (on route 9) for $30, with the wheel off the bike. They wanted more (~$60?) if it's on the bike.

I had the rear swapped out for free because of an error rashing the old one. They even ate the cost of the tire.

So although their service department is busy, and sometimes they take a little more time then quoted to do the work, they've been pretty good serving me. I recommend them.

Nikon - you still need Race tires?

One of my dealers had some NEW Michelin Race 1's in his back room . He also had some Pilot Sport Cups, which is a Euro race series tire.

I may be able to get these to you for under $200.00

Hey SD, would these make a noticeably better tire than the pilot powers for trackday use? Now that I've got a second set of rims I can deal with a bit less streetable rubber for trackdays. OTOH it would be nice to be able to get a few street miles out of 'em once they're too worn for the track.

Is running race rubber on one rim and street rubber on the other a better plan for a (slow) trackday rider, do ya figure? Or should I just stick with my plan of running powers on both sets and switching the trackday tires to the street once they've had a few days under them?

The Race 1 is a tire that is now 3 generations old. The Power is light years ahead of it technology wise.

Race 1's were based on a street casing, with the limitations of street technology back then.

The Power is a better choice for track and street use compared to those older tech tires.

For the slow trackday rider, I would just run one set till they were dead. Why switch back and forth?

If you were putting the stress of a race weekend on them, I would definately switch back and forth with dedicated rubber.

The insane part is, I placed the order at 1pm on Wednesday and by noon on Thursday the tires were in my house!

Info for tire mounting in the area that will mount tires purchased on-line!
A.W. Cycles (Holden, MA) Tire mount & Balance for 2 Tires for me is cheap, but off the street person $25/ per rim on the bike. $20 Per off the bike. But does not have a tire return program! Take your tires discard yourself! This may have changed, you'll have to ask!

GMD Computrac- (Bellingham) Mr. Peter Kates! Mount & Balance $20 per tire off the bike. Schedule ahead he is a busy guy ! Very good quality work! ? I do not know about tire return/discard policy. Ask.

Performance Cycles ( I just did this today, bacause they said they could do them the same day! Dropped them off on lunch @ 11:30, they were ready by 4! ) $55 rims off bike and this included discarding old tires.
