I want something to ride around the city and such. Idealy a road bike, maybe a mountain bike. Something better than a huffy but cheap. Anyone got one laying around?

WANTED: bicycle

I got one of them cheapie Mongoose mt bikes with crappy front suspension. $25

I also got my old GT Outpost rigid frame bike. Got new rear wheel, new crank bearings and new rear derailure. Could use a tuning since it skips when you are pedaling way faster than anyone ever should. Also has a new seat. I upgraded to a GT I-Drive 2.0 and no longer need it. It's well used but takes a beating and keeps on chuggin along. Much larger frame too, meant for someone in the 6' range.

$60

I gots one of those pedal-bike rigs.....

Its a mountain bike, and its apparently worth some astronomical amount of money - I received it in an even trade for a 1988 Ford Bronco, for which I was asking $1500. Seriously. (My uncle had no car, and no money, and I would have just given him the damn thing, but he insisted I take the stupid bike.)

I've ridden it twice.

I dont know what it worth, but $200 buys it.

I have a road bike and $50 takes it. It's a Univega touring bike, good shape (might need new tires). Great bike low price and I'm local!

afterwards too!

Its a custom titanium frame made by a cycle-maker in Kingston, NY - company is called "Vicious Cycles".

The rest of the stuff is top shelf stuff, but I honestly know nothing about it. All I know is that my uncle is some sort of senior pro bicycle racer, and this bike was built for him, and he raced it for a while. Oh, and he made a custom front suspension setup that is cool, has one hard spring and one soft one, I cant remeber why he did that, but he thought it was cool.

I've got a Giant Iguana size Large frame w/Answer 80mm suspension fork sitting in my garage. It has a front deraiuller and nothing else... it is a pretty decent frame though.

It is appropriate for someone like 6'-6'2" if anyone is looking... I'd get rid of it for less than $100 I think. It's 5 years old.

Do both work? I live ~20 mins from Clinton and might be interested in forwarding the deals to friends in Boston.

200

i should prolly add that with everything it was over 1200 when I got it and barely used. The front shocks alone cost me 400 and I think I rode the bike like 6x since the shocks were put on...

Hey hessogood-

If you are looking for a beater bike (city bike) I would strongly suggest something other than Highsider's rig...it is probably a very sweet ride (ti plus high end gruppo) so it may not last that long on the city streets..if you plan on riding trails,etc...if it fits get it.
btw..what is your height and inseam length. ?

Highsider...can you measure seat tube? you measure from the middle of the bottom bracket (center of pedal crank) to the intersection of the seat cluster (where the top tube, seat tube and seat stays meet).

Lyle

Haha, I don't think I can afford a camera and a bike. So if you get pics, send them over. If not, it's alright.

I'm 6' with a 32 inch....um....oh 32 inch inseam. I'll probably take it around the city and out for some trail riding. I used to race them about 12 or 13 years ago, so I'm sure I'll want to jump out on some old trails.

Jay-

I'd suggest a couple of things-
1. Swing by a bike shop (Belmont Wheelworks, Ace in Somerville or the small one on Mass Ave in Arlington) and at least throw a leg over a couple of bikes. You are probably looking for something around a 17"-19"(depending upon top tube angle). If you plan to ride mostly streets go bigger but if you want to rip single track, etc you want to keep it on the mangeable side.
2. If you get a beater bike and thrash it on the trails...it will break.
3. All the bikes mentioned here might work..you just need to get the standover height, etc.
