FS: 2005 GSXR 1000 Track or Stunt Bike 2500

Anyone out there interested in a 2005 GSXR 1000 track or stunt bike. Last week someone hit me and it appears my insurance company is totalling the bike. The bike is brand new 2005 GSXR 1000 black and silver with 750 miles on it. The plastics are damaged around and the left side frame has scratches on it but all the mechanics are still straight. The bike starts and runs beautifully. It will have a salvaged title but I have title in hand.

The price is set at 2500

Hey guys sorry I havent been around a bout with strep throat and sinus infection has left me feeling like a world of shit lately. I spoke with my insurance company today and they gave me their baseline offer, it will probably be about a week or so before the insurance file is closed and I can buy the bike back. I will keep everyone updated as the days go on.

Alrite guys just got off the phone with the insurance company and apparently the way they do buybacks on salvaged bikes is that there is no set price for each individual bike. Apparantely what they do is advertise out the bike with an approximate cost to fix to a group of motorcycle salvage yards. In the northeast im assuming that means ARGO and some others. They make a bid on it and the highest guaranteed bid from the wreckers becomes my buyback price.

I think this is a load of horseshit and am getting royally raped by my insurance company anyways so why not just top it off with this. Well to make a long story short I dont know howmuch the buyback will be so I dont know how much I can sell the bike for in order to break even. I will keep you all updated with the buyback price and how much I will be selling the bike for as soon as I know.

Argo is one of the Companies that bids , and My Buddy Dan (DGMCYCLES) is also another. He might be able to tell you if this story for the buy back price is a load of crap or not. Sounds like to me, or a new policy I have never heard about.

What it sounds like is the Insurance Company is trying to get as much $ out of the salvaged bike as they can. So they are looking out for themselves not you. We all pay heafty for good insurance and by doing so in my mind we should be the ones they are taking care of. I can bet in their insurance books stating values for salvaged vehicles compaired to Blue book values they know exactly how much the buy back should be, but changed the way they deal with them in order to be more profitable. It is a business and that is what businesses are supposed to do, but not in this situation. (in my mind) It's your bike and you should be the one to decide what you want to do with the bike, and they should have an up front in writing cost for the buy back..

Now by doing this the ins co.'s way: how long could this process take? I would have to guess a minimum of 3 weeks to maybe 2 months before you have an answer. What happens to the bike in the process? If they are going to put it up for auction then I would have to say they will have possesion of the bike and transporting it to & from the auction (s) for the companies to bid on. I know I wouldn't bid on something I can not see and get a rough estimate to fix. & on top of that, From your stand point, if you were to want to keep it and sell it off after a buy back, would you really want to take the chance of this ins co, dragging the bike around and possibly doing more damage which would make it harder for you to sell, and or cost more to fix any additional damage?? I can assure you they do not worry to much about handling wrecked bike! I wouldn't be surprised if they just stacked as many as they can on a flatbed and hual it to where ever the auctions are held.

The more I think about this the more I think this is a load of
Who is in the Inurance Business or know somebody that is? HELP him out!!!!

Thats A Load Of B.S

I worked in the claims dept of an insurance company and used to deal with Total loss values and vehicle owners all the time.

First thing you should do is act Irate and get a manager on the phone to settle your claim, not some entry level minimum paid employee that doesn't have the authority to settle with you.
Most claims agents are only given a small amount of flexibility, whereas the managers call the shots and can give the farm away to keep a loyal customer.
The customer is always right is the mentality that most corporate companies live by.
There is a nationwide salvage value company called CARCO that we used to use to derive values of vehicles after they were deemed a total loss.
Honestly, $2500 seems to be a little LOW for the value of that bike.
Anyone here remember my '02 R1 that I wrecked back in Oct??
It looked like crap to begin with and had 22k miles. They still wanted like $3500 and it was tweaked all around with a cracked engine.
They CAN derive a value for the bike and offer it to you to buy it back as a salvage bike.
Where did you get $2500 as a value or price??
Did they ever mention $2500 as a value?
I saw pics of the bike and I know my company I used to work for would definately not sell the bike back to the owner for that cheap. When you get a manager on the phone hold them to that price and tell them that was the price that you were given you could buy the bike back for.

I hope this helps, just be a pain in the ass and call everyday. that will make them want to settle with you sooner!
Insurance companies claims departments use "claims settled" as their gage on production, so you having an "un-settled" claim makes them look less productive.
GOOD LUCK

How am I going to quote you a price now when the insurance company is changing the price there telling me? I cant say 2750 3000 or even 3500 before I know what they want for the bike.

Often when you are dealing insurance companies, they have a bit of that "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" bullshit going on.

Call up your insurance company, and work your way up the ladder until you get someone who can tell you what you would have to pay for the bike. It is likely that the reason you are having trouble getting a number out of them is because some shitheel adjuster was in a pissy mood because his wife was making shitty meatloaf for dinner for the 83rd time this month, and he just felt like sharing the hate.

Just keep asking and working your way up the ladder. It will work, trust me; I deal with shitheel insurance adjusters all day long.

Good luck!

Thanks for trying to hook it up oreo. When they told me that figure I was like WTF. Dealing with my insurance company has been an absolute nightmare. Trying to bend me over the barrel every chance they can.

They dont say a word when your makiing you monthly payments of hundreds of dollars on time. But once you actaully need the insurance that you pay for they try to nickle and dime you to death.

I dont know whats going on as of right now Im either going to try to get them to raise my insurance payment or lower the buyback price because right now Im getting fucked both ways.
