I'm looking for a enduro . There are so many bikes around ,,, with so many letters before the numbers its tough to find which ones are street legal !
Just starting out so I'm looking for an inexpensive ride , not to beat up , easy to maintain .
It looks like the Kawi's are the closest think to those search options . The KLR's are the ones that keep popping up !
Any thoughts or comments ?

KLR. Great bike, keeps up with Chad on fast group rides on street much to his dismay, is like guiding a cruise ship through a trail but wtf, can't have it all. Most of all it's FUN. I love my KLR.

If you are looking to ride offroad/enduro terrain, your looking for a street plated/or titled dirtbike, KLR is considered more of a dual sport. I have a CRF250X with a street plate but it is not street legal(blinkers,lights,DOT tires and such). I only ride it on the pavement for short distances between woods sections, mostly in offroad events. Having a street plate allows you to ride enduros(timed event) and turkey runs (offroad poker run/charity ride).

www.nedirtbikes.com and www.netra.org are good places to start.

The KLR can be a blast to ride on most roads, but not in tight/rough trails. It'll get down a fire road just fine, but it's a pig most other places. And you definitely don't want to be picking it up off the ground very often.

If you're new to off-road riding, or a smaller rider, you may want to consider a Kawasaki KLX250S to start with. If you want to trail ride, with some brief pavement in between, go with a Suzuki DRZ400S.

If you're looking at used bikes, a lot of bikes are off-roads bikes listed as being "titled" but often are not street legal.
