I may be in the market for another Corvette. Looking for an 81 with a 4-speed manual (hard to find - weren't available from 82 until late 84 models). Must be original and reasonable mileage...

I'm aware of mosta the sites out there. Just thought someone may know of one locally...

I'd consider trading my truck...

The only plastic bumper C3 I want is an 81. If I can't find a manual and HAFTA go auto, I could deal with an 82 (no manuals in 82, and I HATE the clutch-type torque converters they started using in 82). I like the factory bodies on the late C3's. Can't stand the plastic bumpers on mid to late 70's, and the C3 chrome bumper years (both bumpers-68 to 72 I believe) are outta our price range...

Heh, heh. Not really. The early 80's ones have always lit me up. I love the body style on those, and they're fairly easily obtainable. Hard as hell to find an 81 with a (original) manual tranny as they made relatively few (I think around 5000 outta almost 50,000)...

Plus I like the 'first and last' thing. Last C3, first C4 would be kinda cool. And an easy way to start my collection...

A coworker of mine has a 81, but it's an auto. He has done alot of work to the car over the past few years and he claims to have about $22k invested into it. It has 65k original miles and he said he would be looking for $9000.
He is located in Bolton CT

Co-worker selling the following '81. I know its not a manual, but figured I'd pass it in just in case. I don't know the guy, just saw the ad on our internal web page. If you're interested, send me contact info to pass on to them.

"1981 Corvette, 350,L81, auto, 2 tone Bronze/Bronze, 131,000 miles, runs excellent, well-maintained, brand new exhaust, less than 8k on tires, all new hoses and belts; $5000.00"

I have an 83 I'll sell you...the hitch is you have to pick it up...it's stored in the lost city of Atlantis. hand a left at the Fountain of youth, and you can't miss it..

All kidding aside. you'd be hard pressed to get the only 83 vette from the national Corvette museum. I think they will want to hold onto it..

On the contrary-some 40 or so '83' models were indeed built in late '82. GM has maintained that all but one was destroyed, yet there never were any witnesses to this. Some 'conspirists' believe that they're out there, somewhere...

The '84 as we know it was for sale to the general public in the spring of '83, yet it was still classified as an '84. They were in production for a year and a half under the moniker of them all being officially 1984 models. This is why the '1984' model was wunna their highest production years...

Our '84 has the Z51 handling package. The rear wheels are actually an inch wider and offset differently than the fronts, yet they wear the same size rubber. I believe they changed that on late '84 models...

BTW, beet: 68's are effectionately called 'the worst Corvette ever made' by quality standards. It was the only time a Corvette was built on a general assembly line rather than the at the 'Corvette plant'...
