MZ Scorpion track or street

2000 MZ Scorpion ex-racer. Currently set up as a street bike.

MZ's are German bikes with a Yamaha 660cc single cylinder motor. Makes about 50hp and gobs of torque. I raced it against EX500s and motards. It handles excellent with great brakes. This bike has done 1:23s at Loudon (and one 1:22), but has been my daughter's street bike for the last two years.

Brand new Michelin Power Race tires
Stock engine, forks and shock.
Sport clip-ons and rear sets
steering damper
Supertrapp exhaust
Custom aluminum subframe
Ride height raised with dogbones
Spare wheels (no rotors)
Spare side panels
Stock exhaust and other parts
Givi handlebar windscreen
Take-off street tires

Runs excellent. Very dependable. Has minor crash scuffs on tank, engine side covers, exhaust, speedo cover and headlight shell.

$1,900.00

I can't remember if you used any plastic on that when you were racing it. Any pics in race trim?

The bike is the Tour model, which is the naked version of the otherwise mechanically identical Scorpion Sport. I do have the Sport clipons and footpegs.

But, yeah, my first few races I just took the lights off and put a number plate over the headlight shell. Besides wiring it, it was ready to go-- and it was competitive. I was in first place on the last lap of its first race in this configuration, until three of the guys I was battling with got by between T3 and the finish.

Later, I built the aluminum subframe and raised the rearend using the shorter dogbones and geared it a bit lower.

You can race a single in any class with unlimited modifications, but I raced in:

LW Sportsman (against EX500 Ninjas, motards, FZR400s)
Super Singles (against mostly motards)
ULW Superbike (against SV650s, Hawks, etc.. As an novice and amateur I was competitive-- even winning the Acheivement award in the class. But it's got no hope as an expert)

Just a small correction.

Back in the day SV's were allowed in ULSB. Now they are no longer allowed. U have a better chance now.

It a good deal.

Man, I've been away to long. So besides Hawks and motards, what else runs in ULSB these days?
