think you're anal?good find weman! this guy is nuts about his bike. filtered water to wash the bike on every ride. full snyth oil every 1000 miles. removed the plastics to clean the engine. link 2001 Yamaha R1 - $5000 (Sudbury) Reply to: sale-628449509@craigslist.org Date: 2008-04-03, 1:10AM EDT I have a MINT 2001 R1 with only 20,000 miles on it. I have to say this thing gets compliments everywhere i go, especially the fueling portals! To give you an idea how meticulous I am with this...the bike is washed after every ride, regardless of distance, only used filtered water, meguirs gold class or NXT shampoo, dual bucket method and a microfiber wash mitt. Its dryed only with a microfiber drying towel. Then the chain is degreased with supertech and waxed with gold superwax chain wax. The oil gets changed every 1000 miles with 10w-30 full synthetic (usually mobil 1 or castrol superbike) and a new filter. It doesn't leak, smoke, or consume any oil! The bike has NEVER been down! Clean & clear title in hand! Twice a season the coolant is flushed only with distilled water and then a 50/50 prestone mix is added. The brake fluid has been flushed and replaced with Dot 4 Valvoline full synthetic. Maintenance: -New Yamaha fuel filter @19k -All 9 new coolant hoses @ 20k -Religious synthetic oil changes -Religious regular washes/waxes -New Michelin pilot powers F&R @18k -Tires filled to 36psi F&R -Bodywork removed then hand cleaned engine/kickstand @19k -Exup valve cleaned & Lubricated @20k -New oem battery -New NGK CR9E plugs @ 18k -brake fluid flush -Carbs cleaned/Sync'd @ 19k -coolant flush -haynes hard cover service manual included Mods: -AIS removal kit (all emissions removed) -Jardine Shorty pipe -K&N air filter -Dynojet Jet kit -7500k HID's PIAA -Scotts Steering damper -Black brake&clutch levers -Speedscreens tinted windscreen -Goodrich Stainless brake Lines F&R -Hot Bodies Undertail kit -Euro LED flush mount blinkers -520 Chain conversion (Gold chain) -Vortex sprockets (+2 in the rear) -Frame sliders -Dyno tuned by Mike @ OCR racing in worcester for 130rwhp on a dynojet -Dyno sheet before & after included -All original papers included with purchase -Spare yamaha key included ![]() |

Re: think you're anal?I used a special lawn irrigation enabler device, aka a hose, and a special synthetic H20 and detergent application device, aka a sponge. And I washed it after every ride. Granted, it was a 5 month long, 3000 mile ride with occasional breaks for sleep food and work. |

Re: think you're anal?130 HP is about right for that model. Lubing an EXUP though? That's not right. No Nitrogen in the tires? Slacker. |

Re: think you're anal?2000 - 2001 At a claimed 150 horsepower at the crank, top-end output remains the same but changes to the engine management system are supposed to result in a smoother, broader distribution of power. The bodywork is still unmistakably R1 although a few changes were made resulting in a 3% reduction in the drag coefficient. The headlight housing has a sharper profile, the side panels are more aerodynamic and slippery and the windscreen has been reshaped for better rider protection. In fact the bodywork changed so much that bodywork from previous R1s will not fit the Y2K edition. |
