Looking for rockstars

Just throwing the feelers out there....

Looking for a few folks to jam with. I've been playing the drums for over 22 years now and have been in and out of bands since my early 20's. Most bands break up because most musicians are tempermental little fags and can't handle constructive critisism. I figured if someone was into motorcycling and music our personalities would better fit.I don't want to sound like an expert or anything but if you don't have a ton of experience and the only song you know is Deep Purples "Smoke on the water" , then this might not be for you. I'm really looking for some people who have a good handle on their instrument and has some pretty good chops.I have played and enjoy playing all types of music from rock, soul, funk, jazz, jazz fusion and everything in between, although the only music I will not play is Country and heavy metal.

So, if anyone wants to jam then maybe take it from there and possibly start something up with the end result being a real band and playing paying gigs, then hit me up Via PM or this thread.

That'd be cool, I just don't like the country sound or arragments, most of it is just 4 bar blues in disguise that pretty much a monkey could play. If you're serious PM me your number and we'll try to get together. Finding a good bass player is always the toughest part of starting a band..

gladly the wife will be shocked to see my dust off the old lady from under the bed. FYI hardest thing about jamming with anyone is finding a style of music every enjoys playing.

Ya, I agree with that but I'm actually pretty easy to get along with musically. I like it all and I play for the song.If it's got a good groove then I'm down to play it..

I don't know if you have a need for a female singer... I used to sing with a band, but of course I let my grown up responsibilities get in the way. I've had the itch since I sat in with my brother's band in Charleston a few months ago. I'm a little rusty, but that's nothing some vocal exercises won't cure

i don't have anything in mind just know back in the day i have played Johnny Cash in a faster paced band kind of like Social D but faster and we played Walk the Line.

i mostly used Jamming as a reson to hang out drink and goof around and maybe play some new or cool tunes

The man is looking for rock stars not little fairy prima donna headcases.
I suggest you move along. As the band's manager, I wouldn't extend you a contract offer if the future of my penis depended on it.

I'm looking for for someone to play covers and a bit less sensitive, but thank you very much. When the paper bag stops floating around in the wind and you put your video camera down and decide you want to do covers hit me up.

Re: Looking for rockstars

Another bass player here, 20 something years worth.

I like playing covers. I have great technique on the bass and can mimic almost anything, but I can't write shit. I would therefore rather work my chops covering Chili Peppers tunes and leave the songwriting to the guys with all the passion and talent.

Some of the most fun I've had jamming was with a drummer buddy who would show up at my house with a 3pc kit and a bottle of red wine. We did Rush covers, just bass and drums, I played a lot of the guitar parts on bass where I could and he tried to make a 3pc kit sound like a 23pc kit, we would laugh like fools the whole time.

So for me, a few beers, a few laughs, and some rockin good covers is where it's at. JAM ON!

No... I thought it was a 'people to jam with' thread. Apparently its a 'throw out something that sounds half-sensible and then be a total asshole' thread. My bad.

I suck at guitar, really. I was just chiming in to defend the enjoyment of playing covers. I posted this before reading the strict posting guidelines

Re: Looking for rockstars

Whoah, I think you're getting a little ahead of yourself here. Before you go worrying about shit like instruments and ability, you might want to start with the basics. Like, do you have a cool name? A drug addiction? Vinyl pants?

You're pretty much on your own with the drug addiction and Vinyl pants part, but I'm pretty sure NESR can help you with the name part. And judging by your screenname, you're going to need all the help you can get. I'd hate to see you get out there with a healthy drug addiction and a sweet set of plastic pants and fail because you had a band name like Nude Office Managers or something.
