Stoneman's Truck - The Big Rig!

I've recently made the decision that could very well change my life. I'm getting bored with my BIG ASS pick-up truck, so here's the skinny...

First off, you can view photos and get the specs/description of it at http://www.currier-designs.com/StoneWeb/truck.html

I'm asking $15 Large for it, but I'll take $12,500 as it's current rubber will need replacing. This thing is immaculate and I've owned it since day one. It's won several awards in shows and it's been used in a television commercial, a local news broadcast, and in a filming of a Highway Patrol episode...

I'd also consider a trade if the right offer came along. Something like a '69 Camaro SS w/ big block; '69 Camaro Z28; '76 Trans Am (Black); '66 Chevelle SS w/ big block (396 "Turbo Jet"); or the right 'Vette (mid 60's to late 60's / must have big block). Any of the mentioned must have manual tranny's and be immaculate and in mint shape w/ no aftermarket radios and/or decks. I'm looking for OEM stuff here...

Any interests, gimme a shout here and I'll get back to you....

No, I'm not sure actually. I know that early model Z28's were not available with big blocks or 350's due to the fact that the "Z" was their "racing" model. So they went with the aluminum 307's and 327's. I don't recall a 302, but YOU were around back then, not me....

None the less, what I'm really after is either a '67 (last C-2) or '68 'Vette (first C-3). I believe from '69 on, only the 350 was available. And IF I end up trading for something like that, it's gonna HAFTA have the big block and manual tranny-o...

Ah yes, here it is. The 302 C.I.D. "Stroker", as it was called. A short stroke, short block high performance "aluminum V-8 power plant". Said to have more HP than either the 307 or the 327 also available, and much higher revving...

Doesn't matter much, really. You've already seen my desire for a big-block, so oh well....

For what it's worth, I'd give my left nut for a '66 Corvette with the 500 HP L-88 engine. Somehow, I don't think using my truck as bait will land me one though...

You'd prolly have to give both your left and right nut.

The only reason I knew anything bout the 302 in the original Z28's was I knew sombody who had one back then, as far as I know it was the only vehicle that chevy put a 302 into and they didn't make but a few hundred, it would be a rare find.

Actually, my pops had one. He's supposed to be bringing me a photo of it. Apparently, he sold it shortly after I was born to buy a house in Bedford (NH)...

Hey BTW-This is supposed to be about me selling/trading my truck!!!

Stoneman's Truck - The Big Rig!

I just looked at some new pickups last saturday. GM is puttig out an impressive line of engines again like they did back in the 60's
I test drove a truck with a 6.0 litre small block engine, 300hp, the fucken thing ripped!! The new generation big block is very impressive as well, 8.1 litre, 496 cid and 360 hp, 485 ftlbs of torque. I sure can respect wanting a big block, it's hard to describe how insane they are when properly set up. I had a chevy S-10 pick-up, short bed with a 396 big block in it (what, you don't beleave me?) focken thing was sick and fun as hell to drive. I drag raced it at epping once, 13.1@ 105 mph, my friends father has it on video, it smoked the tires 3/4 of the way down the track....
ahh sorry stonner, you got me a little worked up with all this big block talk
what was the topic again?

Took a '78 Trans Am for a test-ride today. Wow!!! 4-speed; 400 big block; super clean; 78,000 miles; all original papers; one owner....:cool

Only thing I'm holding against it is the after market stereo and speakers, and it's blue w/ tan interior. I'd rather a black one w/ red interior....

He's talkin' even trade, I want cash on top too. But driving that thing really reminded me of some fun times. Guess I'll go home tonight and take the truck for a nice, long ride to be reminded of how fun THAT is....

Next?

I see that fuckin' cop everywhere but in Barnstead. They probably fired his ass! I saw him here in Amesbury, and a few other times around here too.

Stoneman,

How about a modern day big-block? Like 488 cubic inches of Dodge power? Recently dynoed at 425hp and 470lb-ft of torque - at the wheels! Thats about 500hp and 550lb-ft at the crank. Not bad in a 3400lb car.

It's for sale!

I wish you luck in selling your truck... but remember - there are faster things than Vettes out there hhhhiiisssss....

Well losers, it may be going soon. I'm currently negotiating with an interested party, and if all goes well it'll be gone by the 4th. The only thing I don't like is that the dude wants it STRICTLY for off-roading. That means he's just gonna beat the piss outta it 'til it dies. Yeah, it IS set up for the meg off-roading, but I hate to see it beat to death...

None the less, I'm supposed to talk to him again at the beginning of next week. He made me an offer, I just gotta let him know if it's something I'll take...

Stoneman's Truck - The Big Rig!

There's some pix of it somewhere around here. It's an '89 Chevy half ton, with 3 inch body lift (NOT hockey pucks!) and 8 inch suspension lift. The engine and tranny were replaced (not rebuilt!) about 8000 miles ago. The engine is a 350 Goodwrench crate motor w/ 300 HP / 285 lbs. of tourque. I run Mickey Thompson 40" Baja's on Prime Racing 12.5" wide wheels. Nickle plated headers w/ hand bent 3" stainless exhaust. REAL 4 wheel drive thanks to locking differentials (Detroit). Roll bars, nerf bars, push bar w/ brush guards, all frame mounted; 9 fully functional KC off-road lights, Diamond Stamp bed protector...

The interior is pretty much stock, except for the stereo system. It's a Pioneer removable face CD deck w/ 6 speakers, 2 tweeters, a sub, and 2 amps. The nice thing about the system is that I didn't cut anything to install it other than for the little tweeters. It really looks like it's been there since day one...

The truck is immaculate, and when clean it looks brand new. The tires need replacing, but it's still a beast off-road. Ask anyone here who's seen it in action. It fuckin' ROCKS!

The last few years though, I haven't driven it much. It's been pretty much relegated to pulling other people outta 'sticky' situations. I will be getting another toy, but it'll be something that I'll use more. Right now I'm leaning towards an early 70's 'Vette (chrome bumper / big block 'C-3') or a stable mate for my Tiller...

I can't tell ya that I built it 'in my driveway', but I've owned the truck since it was new and everything done to it has been done to my liking. Only problem is that it's got an appointment to get detailed at the end of this week, and that usually makes me change my mind about getting ridda it. But if me and this dude can come to terms, this may just be it...

Well, as of THIS moment, this very moment, I've had yet another change of heart. I had the truck professionally detailed, and now I'm having second thoughts. So as it stands now, I'll be hanging onto it for a bit longer....

But seeing as you've all been soooo helpful helping me sell it, I'll be sure to let ya'll know when I change my mind again...
