WTB: Front/rear standsAnybody got a set they want to sell? Have a new set of tires on order and they're a lot cheaper to have mounted if you take the wheels off yourself. And I been meaning to get a set anyways, life sucks without a centerstand. PM with make/style/price if ya got 'em... |

WTB: Front/rear standsNot a big fan of Handy's products. Cheap enough, no doubt. But you DO get what you pay for... I HIGHLY suggest Woodcraft stands though. VERY reasonably priced, and in my opinion, the best in the business... Sorry. You'd think that with all the sets I have, some would be for sale... |

WTB: Front/rear standsI dunno much about stands so...what differentiates a cheap stand from a good stand? Do different stands work bettter with different bikes? I guess I need to do some more homework before buying a set of stands. There's a guy up in Manch who'll take the bike with the wheels on and change the tires for a very reasonable price, it just took a bit longer last time than I'd wanted to lay my bike up this late in the season. Say...Jay...didn't I hear something a while back about you changing tires for a nominal donation to the NESR racing fund? You still doing that? |

I bought a Scorpion rear stand, and although the stand is ok, the mounts that latch onto the spools on the swingarm suck big time... Scratched up my swingarm above the spool area on my left side... In general, the cheaper they are, the more care you must exercise when using them... |

WTB: Front/rear standsThe differences between cheap and expensive work stands are lift height, required force needed to lift bike, sturdiness, ease of use, etc... The good stands will have four decent sized wheels, require very little lift effort, are very sturdy, and'll give ya a few inches of lift, and they're easy to use (READ: one person operation).. I'd say plan on spending a coupla hundred on a good SET, you'll be glad you did. I've used several different brands, and I can't say enough about Woodcraft's. The best in the biz, in my opinion... |

![]() I've done my share of tires, and helped others with theirs. Unfortunitely, people seem to forget the donation part once the job is done. And I usually end up with a stack of used tires in my garage, which COSTS *ME* to dispose of... The deal I offered was: bring your WHEELS only up (if possible), make a small donation to the race team or the site, and take your used tires when done. Sadly, not even a few people have kept their end of the deal... Shame too. It was a good deal for people. Save any where between $30 - $80 and the aggrevation of finding someone to mount YOUR tires. Bigger shame is that I'm giving the rightful owner his tire equipment back soon. Even bigger shame is that I plan on dumping about $1000 on a power assisted tire changer and balancer this winter.. Nope, that shop's closed now. Sorry... |

WTB: Front/rear standsWake up on the wrong side of the bed today?? I think they fixed that two piece set-up! I have the rear pitbull and front woodcarft, but I bought mine a while ago. Why are you going to spend $1000.00 if your not doing tires? |

![]() Nah. I just hate to see someone spend money on something like that just to find they coulda gotten a better product for less money. I had a Pitbull rear stand and sold it after I got the Woodcraft. I can't even count how many different stands I've used over the years. Woodcraft is the best in my opinion... |

I'm just sick of paying so damn much for tires & tire changing. You can find damn good deals on tires on the 'net, but then ya pay an arm and a leg to get 'em changed somewhere where you didn't buy 'em. That $1000 spent on equipment'll pay itself off in two years - TOPS - just by doing MY tires... ![]() |

WTB: Front/rear standsOne more thing to consider with the front stand... There are (at least) two basic styles with front stands. One type attaches to the bottom of the forks by the front axle and lifts from there. These work fine unless you plan/need to remove your front forks to do work on them. The other type attaches to the bottom of the triple clamp, above the front fender. These are nice, but can scratch your front fender if you are not careful, and some are a bit of a pain to use. (especially if there is little clearance between the fender and upper fairing.) As far as ease/speed of use, the model Gary has is awesome. His has these funky levers that lift the bottom of the forks. These are great in the pits. No fumbling around with trying to line up shafts and holes (he he). Then again, for home use, speed is not much of a concern. Once the rear stand is on, you have all the time you need to get the front stand installed. |

WTB: Front/rear standsOk so I'm gonna bite the bullet and get a decent set of stands, like you all have suggested. I'm leaning towards woodcraft at this point, based mostly on all the glowing recommendations I hear about them. Now a question on the front stand, how sturdy is that pin mount stand going to be as compared to say a good fork lift stand? It would certainly be nice to be able to remove my forks, but I can't see myself needing to do that very often and it's more important to me that my bike be stable when I'm working on it, or when I have it up on the stands for storage. Would I be losing some stability by going with a headstock/triple tree mount? I know they take a little longer to set up, but I'm not a racer so the extra few minutes is no problem... |

WTB: Front/rear standsThose front stands are plenty sturdy. More so than the 'under fork' stands, in my opinion... |

headstock stands-- once I pull the horn-- have done the trick nicely for me, even working outside on uneven driveway & leaving it up for a day while I had a new front skin mounted... |

WTB: Front/rear standsi got a set of those ones from kowa tools. plenty sturdy enough to completely rip my bike apart a couple of times this summer, i think they were like $140+ delivered. a headstock stand would have been a better idea on my part though, then i could play with my forks too. edit: i just checked the website and they seem to not have much in the line of stands anymore. maybe email the owner if you are seriously interested and see if tere is some stock somewhere in a warehouse, he is a nice guy. WTB: Front/rear standsHeh, just went to order the stands from Parts411.com. Added the rear stand, front stand, 13mm pin, swingarm spools to my cart. Threw in one of them Gorilla alarms 'cause I've been meaning to alarm it. Subtotal, $311. Yep, those stands are pricey, but hey, you get what you pay for. Punch in my credit card, address, blah blah. Hmm, shipping options. $55 ground. $128 air. Ok, I guess I won't be ordering from Parts411.com. |

Kinda surprised me, actually. It's like going to the Mars factory and ordering M&M's and being told they're all out. I wanted to tell the lady on the phone "Well, go make more then!" But I didn't figure that would solve anything... |

WTB: Front/rear standsEnd of race season, nearing the end of riding season. Doesn't really surprise me much. They're not a big operation, so the Mars analogy doesn't really set... |
