Triumph to enter MX and Off Road Segment

Well I guess its re-enter as they built scramblers a few decades ago. They also hired Ricky Carmichael.

COVID caused an increase in sales of many recreational things including dirt bikes so maybe they figured they could cash in on the market?? When will they come to market though and what will the market be they arrive? Or was it because I think the Fonz tried to jump 14 garbage cans on a Triumph?

Hope it’s not just another KTM flying the Union Jack.

No information has been shared yet on which models will be produced or when they will hit dealer floors, but Triumph says an announcement of the model launch timetable and a reveal of the motorcycles, as well as details on the factory race program, is coming in the next few months — further evidence that this endeavor is in an advanced stage.

Agreed, one would think it would take 5 years minimum to go to market from a clean sheet of paper.

I can only assume that they've been doing the ground work and they've got something in testing showing promise if they're just now making an announcement with some big names attached. Announcing now with 5 years to actual product would just be nutty. Covid has helped sales, but the shift to offroad has been going for a solid 5+ yrs already so their interest doesn't surprise me.

the pro motocross world is stupid, that's not gonna work ... but DS/ADV, i could see that ... enduro racing will be interesting to see how that plays out. seems ALL the makers are giving it a go these days. shit, even Rieju just placed in top 10 at Abestone HE. doesn't mean those bikes will sell though.

Aren't the modern Rieju bikes just the last of the non KTM GasGas models in different plastics

In the future, ALL dirtbikes will be KTM with different brand names. Anyone caught riding a vintage (i.e. non-KTM) will be quarantined for 14 days and have their bike crushed.

Debate about which brand is best will continue to rage unabated on social media.

    i refuse to assimilate !!

...but speaking of non-KTM brands, was surprised to see a full-size GPX 4T at Freetown this weekend. been wondering if any of the larger Chyna Bykes would begin to sell more with the Euros being so pricey.

...and to bring this convo full circle, Thumpstar is/was supposed to release a full-size 2T as well, with a motor designed by Josep Pibernat, who was an orig GG co-founder.

messy whirl out der in moto lands

Re: Triumph to enter MX and Off Road Segment

I hope they make their own bike. I hope they have a full MX and trail line-up. I also hope they follow suit with what works and just give us all another color to choose from. What colors are left? Brown? Purple?
I don't think they will be successful trying to reinvent anything first time out, but if they just make another one of the same as everyone else, I bet it sells.

I'll be said if its all rebranded KTM, or if its just a weird line-up of ADV/dual sports.

Also. That is the slimmest RC has looked IN YEARS.

Re: Triumph to enter MX and Off Road Segment

How do you even bring something new to the DS/ADV market that KTM doesn’t/haven’t offered in the spectrum? A 290?

Purely anecdotally isn’t the future bandwagon a $20k electric bike with a 3-400 mile range and quick charging option?
