ok I have an 04 sv650s and right now it's stock suspension . I know some people swap shocks out from other bikes . I just don't know if that would be right for me? I'm 6' about 185lbs I know in the turns I exit wide and I know it has something to do with the dam bike because I didn't have that problem before. thanks all cheers

Start by checking the sag. It should be around 25-30 mm. A replacement shock would help a lot, we still are offering dealer pricing on Penske shocks until 6/30. Tghe stock shock offers no compression adjustments so it's hard to help fix this problem.

from what i have heard, all you need to set the SV suspension is a few quarters for preload!

How is a shock from a totally different bike going to work?? If you think about it the two bikes are not the same weight, so even if the shock fit, I would think you would have to change the spring anyway. Then what about the valving?

Didn't have that problem before whaT?

the SV has a soft suspension but I never has a problem going wide unless I was putting too much power to the rear wheel in which case I would just have to lean more weight into it.

The GSXR Shock is much softer. It MUST be revalved and resprung to work.

Whishful thinking. Any time some one spends money or does work they convince them selves it's better. Besides if you see it on the internet it must be true, right?

The correct spring rate for the SV for most riders is #650. The stock spring rate on late model GSXR's is #375. How could a spring rate a full 300 lbs/in possibly give the correct sag and then how could the dampng curve be correct? The ZX 6r's through 04 use a #450 stock. Still 200 lbs/in too soft. Under sprung and under damped, perfect. The only saving grace is the added lenght of the GSXR shock. However, even the added length does not make up for the spring and damping deficiencies. You can change the shock to a GSXR or ZX 6R, but it is at best a step sideways, not forward. I have set up the GSXR shocks for the SV and they do work great, but with a spring and revalve it's $250 plus whtever you pay for the shock. Like I said I've done a few, but I think you are better off to save up for an Ohlins or Penske.

well i am glad someone cleared it up for me it seemed a little gray . ok so would a Ohlins or Penske. be too much for the street ? and they are like around $400 or would spending $250 to have it spring and revalve be better for the street .
