Sv fork oil

I know that im supposed to measure the oil height from the blah blah blah .....but the manual also told me what the capacity was (16.6 IIRC) so i just measured it out that way because it seemed simpler since i didnt have a sucker thingy (thats a technical term) is this OK? It seems reasonable to me but for some reason im 2nd guessing myself

Always measure the height. That sets the air gap which is an exponential spring. Never use volume.

Not unless your penis fits in 1/4" ID vacuum hose

Dan, what's the mityvac used for. Just sucking out extra fork oil to adjust the height, or can you drain the old oil by slurping out the oil from the topside without removing them from the triples?

Inquiring (and extremely lazy) minds want to know.

the mighty vac is initially designed to help bleed brakes although it CAN be used for other things such as sucking out for oil. the downfall to this is you dont get all the oil out this way (oil in passages and what not). I have done it that way before and it seemed to work fine, my roomate did the same. 2 weeks later he had to change his fork seals (unrelated..just old) and the NEW fork oil that came out was just as nasty as the old stuff he took out 2 weeks prior. when he put them back together he used the same brand and wt. as the first time and the forks were MUCH softer than before. maybe GMD can shed some light on this but i beleive that if you dont drain it properly you dont get out all the (for lack of a better word) crap out which could change the viscosity of the oil. I changed my oil before the first race this year and it came out like sludge it was gross and smelt worse than Heaths Mangina
