im getting a rear shock (GSXR i beleive) from one of the other members on this board for my SV. he weighs about 50lbs less than me, so im assumong the shock will have to resprung for my weight right?
how much and how long?

I just saw this post now.. Do you know what spring is on the shock and what do you weight.

i do not know what is on there now but i do know that it has been done already for the previuos owner, but he says he weighs about 175lbs in full gear. i weigh around 220 without gear, so approx. 50lbs more than him. if that helps

Not really it couild have any spring on it. When you get it we'll see what rate it has and get ythe right spring on it

How can you find out the spring rate. I bought my used penske and have no clue what the guy weighted. I do have a sheet that came with it that has some kind of graph on it.....it's nothing more than a picture to me though.

If the spring is navy blue it made by Hypercoil. The rate is ground on the end, you'll have to remove the spring to find it. If the spring is maroon, it is an Eibach and the size and rate are printed on teh side
