Just wondering. is there an easy way without having specific tools to see if your forks are aligned properly??

You know, on second thought sell the damned bike. Then you can stop wasting space on the intraweb with your unfounded paranoia. That will free up time to worry about other important issues like if all that body ash in your bed is going to cause resperatory problems in the future.

This isn't going to encourage folks to ask honest questions, nor is it going to spark useful conversation.

Tell me to go piss off, but man, grow up people.

You're right, I'm sorry.

Here's how you tell if your forks are straight: Get two pieces of fishing line, about 6 feet long each. Its best if you get at least 25 lb. test, but 15 lb. will work.

Then get two bottles of Clorox Bleach. Make sure you get the big bottles, with the handles. Empty out all of the bleach (preferably in your neighbors well ).

Now, put the bike on its kickstand. Tie one end of the fishing line to your handlebars, and feed it through the upper fairings, along the forks. Then take the Clorox bottles, and place them under the front forks. Tie the other end of the fishing line to the Clorox bottle's handles.

Last, mark the lines just before the knots you have tied. Take everything back apart, and compare the marks on the fishing lines. If one line is longer than another, your forks are irreperably damaged, and you need Peter to get you some good Ohlins forks that are the same length.

WTF????? I think you've been drinking the Clorox.

There is no easy way to tell if forks are bent. If you can see the bend they're f&*$ked. The only way to know is to take them off the bike and check them with a set of V-blocks and a dial indicator. Run out specs are +/- .002"

Does anybody have a dial indicator I can borrow? I was riding the other day and I slid my rear tire for a second and now I want to check the sectional density of my tire and see if it is thinner in one spot. I think I feel a spot that is .002 out. If it is can I just sand the rest of the tire down to get it within specs? I hope so because I just spent $5 to put a plug in the tire and I don't want to waste my money by throwing away a tire I just plugged.

Dont listen to Peter, he has no clue what the fuck he is talking about. Just get some Clorox bottles and some fishing line, you'll be all set.

The easiest way is to take the bike to Peter and have him go over the bike.

What do you mean "aligned" ? do you mean straight?

or do mean something else?

BASTIDS

Everytime I post something , everyone automatically thinks im in a paranoid dilemma. What the Fuck good is anyones knowledge on a bike forum if there not willing to share it. Instead just Break your Balls with any chance they get. I was just curious. MY FORKS ARE FINE. THank you to Pete K. and Liononaleash for actually responding . Granted Ive posted some lame shit, but How am I supposed to know sometimes when someone is dickin me around or not, especially if I lack knowledge and experience on the topic. I can laugh about the clutch thread now but that doesn't change the fact that I opened up my bike and inspected every plate after you guys scared the shit out me. WTF have some compassion. Its fun to act like a douche but Being a Douche is a different story. AlrIGHT i HAVE VENTED. You can BUst my Balls again, but expect a lame philosophical post everynow and then if you do.
BTW. TO me , the members of Nesr are people I'd go out of my way to help if I could, whether it be info or helpin out a stranded rider.
