Hey Pete,

my name's Joel & I have an '04 GS500 that I'm slowly prepping for trackdays starting this coming spring. I've been riding for 2 years, & now I plan on using the GS for learning trackriding & possibly racing; with time.

so far for the suspension I've put in Race Tech .80 springs w/ 15w fork oil (I'm about 155 lbs no gear), and a '93 GSX-R rear monoshock.

I didnt go for the Race Tech cartridge emulators because I've got no way to dissassemble the forks entirely for installation.

most people w/ a GS swap in a stock Katana 600 rear shock for a slight improvement. The "word" was also that for more aggressive riding; one should get the older GSX-R rear shock.
The GSX-R shock I have rubs the swingarm some and (I'm not sure) might be blown.


I suck at suspension.... what do you suggest? I know Works makes a rear monoshock for the GS, but I dont know much about it...

and if you wanna race it, find an engine builder to squeeze out another 10hp if you actually wanna compete in production twins

Joel, the gs500 is a good track bike to learn on.
it is much better than those piece of shit EX's!

I don't know your size, but these bikes work well with small, lightweight riders.(like gaborio or iglu)
