Hey Pete did I mess up my shock?

About how much is an Ohlins shock for the rear, and how much is one for the front?

My Bike is a 2004 YZF600R.

THe reason I ask, is because I am a bigger guy (6'1" 240) and I think I'm too much for the stockers.

Also, I'm a computer geek, and when it comes to mechanical stuff I have no clue. So when it comes to setting up my suspension, I'm at a loss. I'm also not sure if I've got enough experience (only been riding 3 years) to make a determination of what my suspension should feel like when it is dialed in.

I just did a google search, and the only thing I could find were front springs(?) for my model but only for the 96-99 years.
Part no: 08843-01
Type: FORK SP
Fits: Yamaha YZF 600 R(1996-1999)

Also, seeing that the other rear shocks from Ohlins for other bikes start around $600, I'm not sure that it's worth it for me to put that much money into my suspension. Perhaps someone could recommend another brand of aftermarket suspension products that aren't so race oriented, since I don't ever plan on racing. I just ride for the fun of it..

So that's the YZF 600, not the R6?

You might need a 1 on 1 class with Peter (Suspension 101)...

Who is Peter? And Doc, Where do you live? When is good for you? If it's too much of an inconvenienceI don't want to put you out. But thanks for the offer! I'll certainly take you up on it if it's not too much trouble.

If it's not too nasty tomorrow, and neither of us are wicked busy, maybe we could hook up? Let me know.

Peter is "the man" for suspension. He is GMD computrack in Boston.

A big thanks to Doc for his hospitality and sage advice. He took the time to shoot the shit with me about bikes and such whilst putting off working on his race bike. I'm looking forward to riding this season with you.

Holler at me if you're going for a ride and I'll do the same.
