Compressed suspension

Question for Dr. Kates or anyone else with more knowledge about suspension than I have, which means pretty much anyone --

What is the longest you can leave a bike tied down in a truck bed without causing issues with the suspension? The reason is that I will be going to my girls lake house many weekends and going straight from there to the airport which means my bike will be in the truck bed tied down for a week and I figured this would probably do something nice to ruin the suspension. If this is true, any suggestions for a work around? I dont really want to put it on a stand in the truck bed, because I fear it being knocked over.

Thanks!

If you do a search, Mr. Kates already answered that question.

I would do it but I am supposed to be working right now ....

Just loosen the straps so it's not fully compressed. You wont hurt it. Remember to re-tighten before driving home!

How much should they be compressed to begin with? Just a couple of clicks of the ratchet device from when its snug?
