Stiffer SuspensionG'day Peter As my introduction in the Intro forum suggests, I'm into the original 1985/86/87 GSXR's. I'm rebuilding the forks on one at the moment for a drag bike project. The bike will not be road ridden. While the bike will be pretty much street trim with only minor modifications to reduce weight, I would like the front end reasonably stiff so I can lower it on the triple clamps as much as possible. I just ordered a new set of Progressive Springs for the front and have fitted some custom made alloy blank off plates where the Suzuki NEAS damper use to mount. I bought the blank off plates from Bike Bandit.com i believe. I guess my question is the best way to further stiffen the front. Extra fork oil, spacers on top of the springs, any other advice would be appreciated. Cheers. |

Re: Stiffer SuspensionCheers for the advice bud, but i am trying to keep the bike original, I don't mind removing stuff and dropping it on the desk, but i don't want to cut anything |

Re: Stiffer SuspensionQuote:
We don't cut anything. We shorten the fork by limiting the travel. Going back to stock is easy, we remove the droop limiter and make a longer preload spacer. that's why I said to call. |

Re: Stiffer Suspensionjust dont ask him how to go faster. he has a pre recorded answer. "youre riding a ______ just twist the fucking throttle and hold on...if it tries to do something other than that just tell it NO and force it to do what you want" |

Re: Stiffer SuspensionPeter im in Australia, not an easy place to call from. lol I had to purchase new fork springs anyway, the springs I pulled out apear to be the wrong ones. The Suzuki manual list the service limit on original springs as 459mm(18.1 in) however the set sitting on my office floor at the moment would be lucky to reach 330mm. Obviously a home job done wrong. Any further expansion on what you mean by "remove the droop limiter and make a longer preload spacer" would be appreciated. |
