fork related question - not too technical!

I know that they use neoprene/plastic type "fork gaiters" in off roading, so what''s the deal with using them on street bikes? Does anybody know any nice brand that will protect the fork tubes even more than the plastic "mud guards" on the sv650 now?

EDIT: How about a pair of these seal savers - just a neoprene boot that wraps around the fork tube

I wouldn't ride your SV off road, that should solve most of your problem. Seriously, I think you're worried about nothing. Upside down forks are now the standard, which creates a situation where the most vulnerable part of the fork is at the highest risk of exposure, and I never heard of anyone concerned about this before you.

I don't ride nor plan to ride the SV off road, I was just stating what type of fork protection I'm looking for.

First gen SV's came with no fork protection. After replacing seals at 6,000 miles I bought the ones from Traxxion (similar to second gen) and no problems since. I think bugs and rocks hitting the front of the tube are the biggest problem.
