With a possible recession upon us denno and I were discussing the cost of our habits (motorcycles) while at the sox last week.
For shits and giggles I talleyed up what it cost me to ride the track this year and holy shit my wife better never see this thread!
12,500 (749R I bought last January b/c it was such a good deal hahah)
4,000 Cost at BCM for the season for tires, and a long list of stuff I NEEDED!
4,500 (Trailer since I now had 2 bikes and didnt want them sitting in the rain/ snow to VA, NJ, etc and a place to work out of store stuff blah blah)
800 track bodywork
2200 (11 track days)
400 hotels
No inclusion for gas, transportation, food and lots of other small stuff etc.
I ran the 749 900 miles on the track this season (motard saw a bunch but lets focus on just this bike)
24,400K plus gas and other little expenses like tkaing off from work etc.
24,400/900 = 27 bucks a mile!
WOW!
Now, I still have the bike which I can sell for a decent amount and the trailer which has its value, and of course I will use all the same stuff next year, but I just can't friggen believe it.
Postt your numbers...

What THE FUCK were you doing at the Sox game with DENNO!
That's MY TICKET!
You're both dead to me. I feel used and dirty.
ooh wow, $27 per mile, that's like driving a moped in the UK.
why do you torture yourself.
isn't it better not to know and just have fun at the track?
The sad realization for me is that you got better mileage then I did when you figure in all the racing I did this year... I will post up mine later.... gruesome!
I should have taken up running as a hobby!
Denno's cost:

He's got you beat guys.
It's skewed anyway manny, you're not amortizing the cost of the bike over the total time you will use it. is this how you do your taxes? naughty naughty.

As for what I spent:
Same old bike: $0
New tires: $315
Only 2 track days: $450
New gear: $1040
Gas: $40
Hotel: $0 (used Marriott points)
Total cost: $1845
Miles on the track: 230
Cost/mile: $8.02
And I'm assuming, it'll get MUCH worse next year.

I did this a while back too... I'll just do a typical race weekend.
Gas for the denali - $140
Gas for the bike - $25
Tires $400
entry fees $240
gate fee $25
Total: $830
Laps - about 20 practice laps, 36 race laps (not counting warm-ups and cool-downs, cause God knows racing with Denno creates a lot of those)
56 laps, $830, about $15 a lap... kinda shitty, but hey - beats hookers and blow.
