Well finally after a few months today I found it! 400$ 1995 Honda XR 250R WAY up in Vermont. Drove up there today and grabbed it as soon as I saw it listed. Starts right up, sounds good, has some aftermarket exhaust on it and is in pretty good shape i think
Tonight I'm gonna take the plastics off and start to work on them.
All it needs is:
Rear Sprocket
Fork Seals
Bark Busters
Grips
Rear Wheel Bearing
Recover the seat
Change the oil/ check air filter
A new rear tire soon....
A rear light
lube the cables
clean the carb
New levers
And for me to paint it matte black

That is a great bike. You will love it.
And wtf...80's and 90's paintjobs were the best!

hahah thanks guys time to start working on it. Those stickers are a bitch. Gonna see what dealers have for parts close by and if they have some stuff fairly priced i'll buy through them if not this afternoon im just gonna order everything online. I priced it out to be about 220$ (including a set of tires) without fluids and little things.
So overall...
400$ for the bike
50$ for a full tank of gas
220$ in parts
10$ in spray paint
680$ total aint to shabby
I gotta find a kickstand and a seat cover though...having trouble with them![]()

Ugh..
Just finished painting and cleaning everything...looks way better than before.
Took off the old levers and grips, cleaned just about everything!
Ordered:
520 o-ring chain
48-tooth sprocket (steel)
front fork seals and dust covers
New cheap ass Artrax tires (80$ new...can't beat that)
new levers
new rear wheel bearings
new grips
gloves
OEM taillight
and a few little things
still can't find a seat cover...wtf
now all i gotta do is get or download a shop manua, get those handguards from blacksquirrel....get front fork fluid...and start wrenching and praying![]()
