some of you have heard me mention that i'm building a trailer. with recient threads asking about pictures, I figured I'd post up the one I'm building.
A buddy of mine found an old rusted trailer with rotted plywood on the floor. We were able to snag it up for cheap $$$, and started to rebuild it.
Stripped all the rotted plywood and began to sand and grind all the rust off to get a smooth clean metal.

will post more updates when i finish it this weekend.
Jim, you have some nice hand.
Wait! That's not your hand.
Spend the 30 bucks for the the trailer jack. It makes it so much easier to move sometimes.
similar to this, http://www.jcwhitney.com/swing-away-.../p2004433.jcwx but I think Harbor freight has a cheaper one.
It came in really handy when I had to single-handedly push it up and over a grassy hill in my backyard.

update
disconnected all the temp wiring (twist caps) to run grimmets in the frame holes for the wire routing.

all connections now have been tinned, soldered, heat shrunk, and then insulated or wrapped. reused spare insulation & zip tied together.

ready for NHMS

so my bolts mounted behind the tire to hold the fender up apparently was chewing up my tires. Thanks for those who helped me outside of NHMS this week. I just replaced the tire & fixed the bolt issue. The bolts are now on the outside fender holes (far away from the tire) and used zip ties for the center bolt. Nothing I could find would have enough clearance to not rub the tire for teh center bolt.

looking good there jim. i gotta get mine together for when i...

Nice!
My .02 Jim, I would back up those zip ties on the fender with some safety wire.
Ya done good tho. It looks great in person.

Whoever did the wiring did a damn fine job. I heard they were a hack but those pictures prove that wrong.
Looks good Jim.
paul, the more i think about it, the more i dont think i'll need to. the front and back fender holes are bolted up. so even if one of those bolts broke loose, the two zip ties in the center would act as a backup. just having a metal wire that close to the tire makes me nervous. i know the safety wire wouldnt break, but there's very little clearance between the tire and that trailer side.
holy hot sex, that came out awesome!
with the new tires and wood, was it cheaper than a HF trailer?
[useless noob comment] you couldn't countersink that center bolt?
nice job jim, trailer looks great.
what was your total material cost?

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
I am a big on trailers still own 3 just got rid of one. The one I had to give to the auto recyclers after using since 1978 and finally gave up on still runs. kudos for saving a perfectly good trailer looks great now and u will get many years service. Nice you made a light one easy to tow!![]()

Glad the spare held up for the rest of your trip; fix looks good. If possible, ya might be able to send a bolt thru the fender itself at the 12o'clock position to beef up the mounting (instead of using that middle tab).
That scissor jack works easier w/ the handle, doesn't it?![]()

thanks for the update
