Anyone else ever eat at the Traveler's Restaurant just off 84 in Union CT? Neat place and a must stop for me on my frequent trips to and from the NYC area. The diner-style food is decent and they have shelves full of books that they give away to patrons. I scored a Jim Harrison (great writer, one of my favorite authors) book there last month.
It's expensive, but the Five Fifty-Five in Portland Maine serves the best food I've ever eaten.
I like Tennessee's BBQ. But that place is kind of a quantity over quality place in my book.
BBQ= BT's in Sturbridge. You owe it to yourselves to visit there. Very good
Below is a list of my favorite restaurants.
Johnny SeeSaw's (http://www.jseesaw.com/) They are in VT near Bromley Mountain and if you like Prime Rib try it I loved it. Everything I have tried there has been great. I guess it used to be a Brothel back in the day. Loved the cozy atmosphere and rustic look of the place. If you can sit near the fire it's not cold in the restaurant it just makes the atmosphere that much better.
Patrillo's (http://petrillosrestaurant.com/) If you like REAL Italian food this is the place to go. The owners are straight from Italy. It is in Peabody, MA and love the food/atmosphere.
Rattlesnake Cafe (http://www.rattlesnakecafe.com/) The best Mexican I have had in this area. Ohh if you like Sangria they have a great homemade mix . They are located in Bennington, VT

dont know if its been mentioned, but i really like the Flatbread company in Portsmouth. theres one in amesbury as well i believe
Second the Traveler's Restaurant. They specialize in turkey, just like Thanksgiving, all year round. In addition to the free book offer, they also have a bookstore for perusing more titles.
I also recommend Rein's New York Deli off 84 in Vernon CT. Started going there about 20 years ago on a trip to NYC. Unbelievable pastrami / reubens. Amazing free pickles with your meal (you can buy at the counter also).
We used to have a vendor that was about 30 miles past Vernon, CT. We timed our visits to end just before lunch. Vendor always offered to take us to lunch, but we always said we had to get back to work ASAP. We would stop at Rein's every time.
Anoyone here ever eat at Mastori's Diner in Bordentown, NJ? It's very well known down there. Another popular/well-known NJ eatery is Arthur's in Morris Plain. Neither are high-end, just good and both have that je ne sais quoi.
